This is why we love and hate statistics. This spot almost never breaks like this. Depending on who you ask 😇, it hadn’t happened in 15, 20 years, maybe more. Then last month, it happened twice in one week on two different swells. A good reminder that the ocean does not care about averages, recurrence intervals, or what is “supposed” to happen. Rare does not mean impossible. This is exactly why long-term statistics should be used with caution, especially in the ocean. They matter, but they are never the whole story.
