I’ve emailed multiple offices about recognizing our photographers and videographers at the GIMIES Awards. Most emails bounced back. When I finally got through to the person in charge, the call lasted barely a minute. Her response? “It’s been in the works for two years—we’re waiting on government approval.” No urgency. No assurance.
This isn’t good enough.
Our media professionals are the ones capturing, promoting, and pushing Saint Lucia to the world—yet they remain overlooked. They are part of our tourism success, not an afterthought. It shouldn’t take two years to recognize the people who cover the awards themselves and feed our country’s tourism industry digitally.
