Uruguay 🇺🇾 is already a well-established surf destination. With @elnidouy in Punta del Este, it takes a further step, joining a growing trend pioneered by Wavegarden: world-class surf destinations with guaranteed waves integrated within residential developments.
Now 70% complete, the project has entered the installation phase of a 52-module Wavegarden Cove, currently being assembled on site.
El Nido combines consistent, high-quality waves with a premium residential and leisure offering designed for long-term value, including a surf academy, restaurants, a beach club, swimming pools, a spa, and almost 400 residential plots.
It marks Wavegarden’s fourth project in Latin America, part of a growing pipeline of seven developments across the region, with three already operational and four currently under construction. First waves expected in Q4 2026. 🙌🏽
Wavegarden has been selected to power Australia’s Sunshine Coast’s next landmark surf destination, @surffarm.au , marking a significant shift as the project moves away from pneumatic technology.
Why? Because performance, energy efficiency, and the bottom line matter.
The project will feature a 62-module Wavegarden Cove, our most advanced and versatile system to date, enabling the widest range of programmable wave settings for all skill levels. It will also be the largest Wavegarden facility on Australia’s East Coast.
With lower lagoon construction costs and up to 10x less annual energy consumption, this project sets a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance surf parks.

Our Malibu waves are designed for pure enjoyment. Featuring an easy take-off and rides of up to 22 seconds, they provide ideal conditions for beginners and are perfect for progression, with wave heights ranging from 1.2 m to 1.6 m.
Powered by the most energy-efficient wave generation technology, Wavegarden Cove, the cost per wave is approximately €0.05 (based on an electricity price of €0.15/kWh). The lagoon can accommodate up to 100 surfers per session, ensuring high occupancy while producing between 360 and 1,010 waves per hour, depending on the wave type.
