Sound should never be a barrier to participation. Hear More, Live More: Canada’s First Adult Cochlear Implant Report Card Where you live should not determine your access to life-changing hearing care. A new national report highlights major gaps in adult cochlear implant access across Canada, including wait times, geographic barriers, financial support, and provincial policy differences. With more than 178,000 Canadians potentially eligible but underserved, the need for action is clear. Did your province get a passing grade? Read the full report and support the Hear More, Live More campaign. Link in bio. @CHHANational

Ever been in a situation where communication just stops? For many Deaf individuals, this happens every day when accessing services. Without an interpreter: - Conversations take longer - Important details can be missed - Both sides leave unsure Communication is not a luxury. It is a right. Follow along as we introduce a new way to remove these barriers. #AccessibilityMatters #DeafCommunity #CommunicationAccess #Inclusion #WavefrontCentre

#ThrowbackThursday: Early relay services in action As part of our year-long celebration of Wavefront Centre’s 70th anniversary, we’re highlighting the people and innovations that advanced communication access. In 1984, one of the first relay services in Canada was established, with Western Institute for the Deaf helping manage a 24/7 service across British Columbia. This photo captures the Message Relay Centre team in the mid to late 1980s, bridging communication between TTY users and voice telephone users, long before email, texting, or video calls. Communication Assistants and relay operators played a vital role in delivering what was, at the time, cutting-edge accessibility and connection. Do you remember using relay services or have stories about early communication access like this? We’d love to hear your experiences, please like, comment, and share. #WavefrontCentre #70YearsOfAccess #CommunicationAccess #Accessibility #DeafCommunity #HardOfHearing #DeafBlind #RelayService #VancouverHistory
