Room in Hawthorn - a studio and carport addition to a unit in Hawthorn, Melbourne. In this small court of 1970’s housing units, the gap between properties offers an opportunity for a new extension. WA has designed a flexible addition, with ensuite, above a new carport space.

The Nyagaroon Community Model is a hands-on tool created to foster community engagement and encourage dialogue. This scale model of the Nyagaroon site has been deliberately designed to be lightweight, sketch-like, and interactive, inviting community members to partake in a collaborative exploration of the area. Serving as a tangible medium for discussion and design, it brings the potential of the site to life in a tangible, engaging manner.

Architecture Associates and Waters Architects are pleased to be presenting ‘Before Building: Dialogue in Collective Design Practice’, an audiovisual work examining the role of dialogue and gesture in architectural design, premiering at this year’s Melbourne Design Week.

Cabin for a Coastal Garden is a compact and simple building designed as a flexible space that integrates seamlessly with an existing home's coastal garden.
Utilising off-site prefabrication construction
systems, the Cabin provides a space to engage with everyday life, while staying connected to cycles of the outdoor garden space.

Nyagaroon is the cultural name given to a place on the Acheron River within the Cathedral Ranges Cultural Landscape context. WA has been engaged to work within a co-design framework with the Taungurung Land and Waters Council to design the transformation of this landscape, its infrastructure, and its buildings into a thriving cultural place for the Taungurung community.
Previously a youth justice site on crown land, this 256-acre site has a complex and painful history, and has recently been gifted back to the Taungurung people.
Our team has been engaged to work with community, developing tools and frameworks to empower Taungurung people to make positive decisions for the future of this place.

Melbourne’s Western Plains is a hybridised territory – a product of the exertion of civil engineering, environmental management, and the pressures of urbanisation. How public space is designed and planned within this territory, whether built or grown, is critical to the city’s future edge.
