If you’ve read any of my mobile watch photography tutorials, you know that one of the common tricks I do is flip my phone upside down. However, I don’t often get enough space to explain why I do this, which means I end up getting a ton of comments and DMs asking about it.
So today’s tutorial is dedicated to explaining the simple reason why flipping the phone is the ultimate mobile photography hack. And it’s got everything to do with overcoming one of the perceived flaws of mobile lenses!

What watch has stood the test of time for you? ⏳
When you’ve been collecting long enough, you realize that some watches come and go like the seasons, while others really stand the test of time.
The Santos Dumont — this rose gold and beige lacquer one in particular — is the latter for me. It’s not only become a signature of my collection, but also a pillar of my collecting journey.
After 3 years of ownership, my love for it has never wavered. I wish I could say the same about every piece that’s ever entered the rotation!
What’s a watch that has truly stood the test of time for you?

The other Cartier chronograph ⏱️
For a brand not well know for its chronographs I sure have developed a soft spot for the ones I come across. (Hell, I’m even looking at the new Santos chronographs again… help)
So far, I’m 2 for 2 on untraditional Cartier chronos though. This reference of the Francaise ‘Jumbo’, for example, was only produced for one year and features a pretty nifty movement (swipe for the vid!).
Oh and the red rubber strap? Yeah, that just somehow fits right in with the quirkiness.
Quick, give me your best daily use cases for using the chronograph complication on your watch!

A closer look at the Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir 🔍
When executed with intention and care, the intersection of design and engineering is exceptional.
The 2024 re-release of the iconic Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir is exactly this. Spectacular through and through.
The turtle shell-shaped case is iconic. In full 18K yellow gold, it’s exquisite and a little indulgent.
The monopusher chronograph complication is an impressive technical feat, even in absence of the fact that the 1928 MC movement was custom engineered to fit and fill the unique tortue shape. Swipe to see it in its full glory.
And at 34.8mm wide and 10.2mm thin, this 200-piece Privé piece is a reminder that Cartier only knows how to spoil our wrists with classically proportioned and impossibly thin ergonomics.
The Tortue Monopoussoir is a stunning example of what’s possible when we designed elegance and technical innovation. Evidently, I’m extremely proud to have one in the collection.

🚨 NWA: Was the 2 year wait worth it? 😍
Welcoming the @cartier Privé Tortue Monopoussoir Chronograph to the collection!!!
What started as an application for my 40th birthday watch materialized into a surprise allocation for my 42nd birthday! Happy birthday to me indeed.
This is my first from Cartier’s coveted Privé collection — a limited capsule collection that celebrates the maison’s most iconic shapes and designs. Cartier has always helped me mark my milestones, but adding this one to the collection is a whole new milestone on its own.
There’s still a lot to unpack with this spectacular piece. But for now, I’m just soaking it all in. I can’t believe it’s on my wrist.
Endless gratitude to H and the amazing team at Cartier Toronto for making this a reality!!

Introducing the @balticwatches x @spaceonewatches Seconde Majeure – a dramatic contrast of design languages blended together by two brands saluting different eras.
🚨 Exclusively on sale starting May 12th at 4 PM (Paris time) until May 17th. Sign up to be the first to claim yours! (Comment ‘Paris’ and I’ll DM you the link!)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love micro brands that take leaps to create something wildly different. This is that.
@balticwatches is best known for its vintage-inspired timepieces, while @spaceonewatches designs timepieces for a future we can only dream of. The Seconde Majeure represents a marriage of both aesthetics and it’s both startling and satisfying all at once.
The open-worked dial is mesmerizing and artful. Time is deconstructed into a set of layered sapphire discs, with hours read at 12 o’clock and minutes at 6, anchored by a large sweeping seconds hand. The backbone of the dial is a single stunning piece of maillechort with a brushed or “Charbonné” finish (you choose!).
All this in a super friendly 38.5mm case that is 12.3mm thick and 47.5mm lug-to-lug. Have I mentioned that it comes on a sand Alcantara strap by @delugs too?? 😍
The Seconde Majeure officially goes on sale on May 12th at 4 PM (Paris time) and orders will only be taken until May 17th at 4 PM. You can sign up today to be the first to be notified when the order window opens.

Special thanks to the kind and talented team at @balticwatches and @spaceonewatches for letting me get hands-on with this masterpiece! I can’t wait to see it on all of your wrists!

What’s your go-to sporty watch? 🚴♂️🤾♀️⛹️♂️🏌️♂️
Man I’ve been loving this look lately. It’s perfect as summer is just around the corner and all things sporty and outdoors are in full swing. 🏌️♂️
For someone who has tried nearly every colour combo on the Santos family of watches, it took me way too long to try a white rubber CTS (sailcloth!) strap on this ADLC.
It’s got contrast, it’s got edge, it’s got elegance. It’s perhaps the least expected watch to find on the golf course but I’m not here to follow tradition.
What’s your go-to watch for sports?

Should we be friends? 🥹
I’ve got a few pieces on the chopping block as I’ve been doing some spring cleaning with the collection. But sure enough, just as I’m starting to pack things up, I’ll try one last strap change for funsies… and then fall back in love with the watch.
Does this happen to anyone else?
The IWC Pilot 36 has been a long time favourite of mine. And it’s exactly the kind of watch that sticks around in the collection because of how versatile it is and how refreshed it always looks with a new strap.
At this rate, I’ll probably end up keeping everything. 🥴

April watch photo dump 📸
What does your April camera roll look like?
Between the takes and curated shots, I actually snap a lot of random watch photos. Not always the best composed and almost never the optimal lighting, these shots represent more of the day-to-day moments where I get to interact, wear, or just simply observe watches in the wild.
Thought I’d pull together some of my favourites from these moments each month and share them as a photo dump for everyone.
April was another busy one for me, with multiple travel itineraries, tons of catch up time with friends, plenty of fresh air on the fairways, and a fulfilling foundation of family fun.
The wrist actually saw a solid rotation of watches too, including a few novelties (see if you can spot them).
What do you think of this format? Worth doing more of these photo dumps?

1950s charm 🤝 2020s innovation
I’ve always loved this gold chèvre slim strap on my Tank Must. Sadly, I don’t have a lot of other 19mm lug width watches so I don’t get to wear it as often.
Until this 1950s Tudor “Yorke” came into my life! This watch has seen some things and you can tell. The patina’d case, dusty dial, and withered hands all point to a life well lived long before it reached my wrist.
There’s a certain warmth and richness to this watch too. And that’s why I think it pairs so well with the golden hue of this strap.
Admittedly, the contrast between vintage watchmaking and modern leather craft really stand out here. Is it too strong of a juxtaposition or do you think the tones offer harmony?
PS: No watches were harmed in the making of this reel, I promise! 😇
