Public Record Online is an exercise in imagination & built around a question: how can the public media of the past help inspire the media of the future? We hope to use this platform to present art we love—and we think YOU are making something the world should see. Send it our way—we are open to everything from drawings to cassettes to books, zines, essays, & photos.

Director John Carpenter has made some of the greatest films of all-time: Horror classics like Halloween and The Thing, sci-fi action epics like Escape from New York and Starman, and satirical gems like They Live. But 1986’s Big Trouble in Little China is perhaps Carpenter’s most fun film, a hilarious, action-packed martial arts fantasy. And on June 6th, @cultclassicsaz is bringing the film to @850wlincoln to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Founded in 2011, Cult Classics is dedicated to delivering cinematic favorites on the big screen to Phoenician film fans. And now, Cult Classics is bringing their roadshow to Hello Lincoln, our downtown Phoenix warehouse, presenting the adventures of Kurt Russell’s truck-driving Jack Burton and his crew as he squares off against an ancient sorcerer Lo Pan. As with every Cult Classics screening, expect more than just a movie, including photo ops, DJ sets, hot dogs, cosplay, and exclusive merch by Cult Classics programmer Victor Moreno, including a print and shirt. Come get initiated and cap off your comic-con weekend as Cult Classics and Public Record Online present, Big Trouble in Little China on June 6th—visit cultclassicsaz.com for more details and tickets!

You can go anywhere to find high definition, soulless AI nonsense on the world wide web. But here at The DIY Videographer, with Salvador Cresta, the aim is something else. Something dirtier, more handmade, and unvarnished. We join Cresta as he creates a video for lo-fi indie pop artist Jeff Coyne of the New England area and learn that the secret to great art isn’t about perfection or smoothed-over visuals, but rather images that suggest the texture of real-life. Tune in and let’s get raw. Plus, access a PDF and extra video tour of Jeff’s studio. #antinetflix

“Many of these songs came from dreams” -Eli Moore @eli_guitar_and_stuff recorded The Power Line at @anacortesunknownstudio with its owner and longtime collaborator, Nicholas Wilbur. Eli invited friends from a lifetime in music to help realize a simple vision: songs that work on their own in solo performance, but open up and bloom on record, shaped by the production instincts he’s developed over the past 20 years with his band @laketheband . @poderinaction is an Arizona-based organization working to dismantle “state violence” and build “a safe future for all.” Poder’s work is essential in these times of expanded state overreach, and we are always excited to have a chance to support their work. And that’s why we’re thrilled to share that on Saturday, May 16, Poder is presenting a special event right here at @850wlincoln . Titled “Tender Resistance,” it promises a night of “art, joy, and identity,” with art on display by local creators, cocktails, and DJ sets by Mayte and @trip_hazard_ash .

From post-rock to free jazz, Chicago has a history of producing dynamic and adventurous music—and the kind of bands that don’t easily fit into genre-specific boxes. One such band is @rezzzn , who’ve announced their new album, Cycles in the Infinite Dream, out July 24 via @sargenthouse . The new album announcement comes complete with a new single and video, “Cloud Fall.”
