This weekend Annette Sax from Yarn Strong Sista & Aaron Eastment from Waru Dreaming spent time together on Taungurung Biik (Home Lands) & by Wa~ring (Goulburn River). Annette is mentoring Aaron a young Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Artist who moved to Kulin Nation three years ago. She is sharing her extensive knowledge of painting on canvas with Ochre and Wattle Sap. Aaron has painted up with Ochre for Ceremony but never used this precious mineral in his art works. Annette has extended family connections with Aaron who she met when YSS was looking for a new staff member! Annette acknowledges that often people can feel disconnected from their own Mob’s Traditional Country when they live away from their family and community. Aaron has become an important part of our family. YSS are excited to highlight Aaron’s incredible talent as part of a wonderful collaboration in the form of an Arts Project.
