On January 9th I was admitted to intensive care at the hospital for acute perimyocarditis. Didn’t know what it was at first, they just told me that it was life threatening, that I’d be there for at least 5-6 days, and that I could have died if I’d stayed on my own.
I decided to make a mixtape with beats I only produced while stuck on my hospital bed, calling it #PrayForWardless
Making music and listening to it was one of my only ways of escaping this place and avoiding thinking about the current situation. even tho i didn’t have much energy
I really wanted to keep it untouched, keep it the way it was when I left the room.
It has lots of imperfections, weird chops, weird structures, was “mixed” with airpods and mainly made with one hand. but that’s the beauty of it.
I think it is the most genuine piece of music I produced. I literally poured my heart into it. Each of the 8 tracks represents something special, it is a ballad through my mind.
To this day I still feel weird about all this. Having death up close was definitely not something I thought would happen right now.
Love to my friends who came to see me, s/o
@jxybreez who dropped me a Jay Dee book, and some samples to work with (track #4 is for him).
Also to all the people who sent me kind messages.
And big thanks to
@tibobrtz for the incredible cover art.
I still have a long way to go to fully recover and I’m still struggling everyday.
Keep Praying
