Pirltawardli Sunset Ceremony organised by the Pirltawardli Collective.
Kaurna custodians and allies gathering at Pirltawardli (Possum Park/Park 1), a place of deep Cultural, historical, and Spiritual importance, which is under threat. The Malinauskas government plans to destroy this important site for the LIV Golf redevelopment.
Over 500 trees are scheduled to be cut down, which would horrifically disrupt the ecosystem and displace the local wildlife, that includes over 100 species. The government has conceded that Indigenous ancestral bones could be disturbed during the excavation process.
This act of cultural and environmental vandalism and disrespect for Indigenous people and their land cannot be tolerated.
This ceremony took place on stolen Kaurna Land. #alwayswasalwayswillbe🖤💛❤️

🌿 APRIL SAGE UPDATE 🌿
SAGE this Sunday April 26 will not be going ahead. As organisers, we’ve made the decision to step back and encourage our community to instead support the Pirltawardli Sunset Ceremony, led by Kaurna custodians and community organisers, taking place the same day, from 2-6pm at Pirltawardli (“Par 3”, Tarntanya).
This is a significant gathering to protect Pirltawardli, a place of deep cultural, historical and spiritual importance on Kaurna Yarta, in the face of ongoing development and land disturbance by the Malinauskas government.
If you’re able to attend, please consider bringing labelled food to share, outdoor seating for yourself and community members, and help spread the word through your networks. As Natasha Wanganeen shares:
“Our presence reflects the strength of community and our shared duty to care for Country.”
