Time for the annual recap for 2025. It's been a strange and interesting year.
Here's a few highlights:
- Appearing on CBC Morning News as "Deadpool"
- Continuing to perform and grow as a drag artist (a lifelong evolution, methinks!)
- Discovering that I can make stuff, to the point where I'm now apparently known as the Prop Master.
- Starting on testosterone in July.
- Stepping up as Mx. Gay Vancouver with the Rhinestone Phoenix Charity Foundation.
- Meeting (and sorta performing with) @puertoricaninja [Vico Ortiz] of Our Flag Means Death fame whilst in drag as Izzy Hands.
Ongoing construction activity at my building did hamper some creative endeavours this year. Hopefully that'll be removed from concern by summer.
In any case, 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year!

The full CBC News interview for tonight's @vancityrenolds Lookalike Contest and Drag Show that's happening at The Legion on Commercial Drive tonight.
There's me in my Deadpool inspired get-up, having WAY too much fun for 8.20am in the morning. Limited sleep, only one coffee AND a 20 second monologue involving Shakespeare, vegans and a Little Shop of Horrors reference!
There's also @jay.kay.drag.king as another Deadpool, @benannasplit as a Nicepool/The Proposal hybrid and @jennybonnycastle as Detective Pikachu.
This was broadcast live this morning [Friday 17th January 2025] on CBC's The Early Edition with Stephen Quinn.

Dragtendo 2.0
January 22 2026 @ The Junction
Mario returned in Dragtendo 2.0, with a reprise of Holding Out for a Hero by Adam Lambert. This time, the number featured a surprise appearance by Steak Neptune (@iron_andblood ) as Bowser!
Fun fact: Mario and Bowser was all improv onstage. The conversation of "Hey, do you wanna..?" literally happened on the day / backstage pre-show! 😁
I was quite proud of this event overall, as it was my first time ever hosting a show solo. I also made all the Nintendo themed stage decorations, and got some neat prizes courtesy of Press Start Video Games (@pressstartbc ) and Gamedeals (@gamedealsvideogames ) in New West. (Both great stores - go see them for your gaming console needs!)
