.”A New Day” Sandhill Cranes
Edition of 25
Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, CO
The spring migration of the Sandhill Cranes through the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado is a sight to behold. Thousands of cranes take over the entire valley. I had been photographing in and around the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, and on this cold morning as the dawn broke I finally got the image I was looking for simple, beautiful, and dreamy.

A serene, chilly morning glide through Colorado's starlit night was both invigorating and uplifting. I had a mere fifteen minutes to capture the Milky Way before the dawn's light would dim its splendor. "Morning Milkyway" evokes feelings of isolation, tranquility, untamed beauty, and awe.

Here are a few captivating clips and stunning photographs from my recent expedition into the wild, capturing the breathtaking beauty of nature through my lens. During this adventure, I had the incredible opportunity to explore the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, where the rustic charm of a log cabin nestled in the woods provided the perfect backdrop for my photography journey. The serene beauty of the natural surroundings was truly mesmerizing, offering a sense of peace and inspiration.
One of the highlights of this adventure was photographing the Milky Way, which stretched magnificently across the night sky. The experience of capturing this celestial wonder was nothing short of awe-inspiring, as the myriad of stars glittered like diamonds in the vast expanse of the universe. It was a reminder of the boundless beauty and mystery that nature holds.
This adventure was not just about photography, but also about exploring new terrains and embracing the spirit of adventure. The rugged trails and untouched landscapes of Colorado offered endless opportunities for exploration and discovery, making it a perfect destination for those who crave the thrill of the unknown. As I ventured into these Nordic-inspired landscapes, I felt a deep connection to nature, which fueled my passion for capturing its beauty through my lens.

🌟 Reflecting on a Wild Year in Film & Television: 2024 🌟
As I look back on 2024, I am amazed by the creative journey I embarked on. I began the year as Director of Photography on a branded film for Food Bank of the Rockies, which set an uplifting tone for the projects that followed.
Then, I stepped into the role of Director for Trio Therapy Partners, which was both challenging and rewarding. But the excitement truly began when I teamed up with my good friend Brent Meeske as CO-Directors of Photography on a feature-length documentary that took us racing across the Midwest in pursuit of epic tornadoes! The experience was intense and full of thrilling moments.
As the year wrapped up, I found myself returning to my roots as Director of Photography on the acclaimed TV series “Swamp People”. It was fulfilling to bring my unique perspective to the show and work with such a talented team.
In the spirit of reflection, I’ve been sifting through my footage and decided it was time to showcase some of my resent work. I’m thrilled to share my new cinematography reel that encapsulates the essence of the various projects I’ve worked on over the last five years.
🎬 Dive into a visual odyssey with my reel!
In it, you’ll experience:
- The intricate storytelling of “Human” on Netflix
- The rugged determination depicted in “Last Cowboy” on the Paramount Network
- The raw intensity of “Killing Fields” and “Deadliest Catch” on the Discovery Channel
- The thrilling adventures of “Live Free or Die” on National Geographic
- The unique world of “Swamp People” on The History Channel
This reel captures the art of visual storytelling while highlighting the captivating moments that define these remarkable series—each shot is a testament to my passion for cinematography and the experiences that have shaped my career.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow creators, storytellers, and enthusiasts who appreciate our Awesome craft!

🦩The elegant Roseate Spoonbills in flight during a stunning sunset. The vibrant orange hues of the sky create a perfect backdrop, highlighting their graceful movements. Moments like these remind us of the serene wonders that the natural world has to offer. 🌅 #NaturePhotography #RoseateSpoonbills #SunsetMagic #WildlifeWonder #BirdWatching #lousiana
Photographing the sunset in the swamps of Louisiana is an experience unlike any other. Imagine standing on the edge of a vast, mystical wetland, where the air is thick with the scent of moss and cypress. As the sun begins its descent, the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant hues—burnt oranges, deep purples, and soft pinks—all reflecting off the still, murky waters below. Grateful! Thanks for the incrediable portrait @justinsafaei
