The concept of this shoot was a more angry, celebratory break up Valentine’s Day theme. The style was very alternative punk. The newspaper set design was @giovanni_tisera ’s idea. I had so much fun shooting this for him.

On this day, April 22nd, 1981, I was born in Los Angeles, California, so it would make sense to rep my town in my bday post. Once an LA boy, always an LA guy.
I made it to 44. The last 5 months have been very challenging. I can never forget how the month of December started with all 4 of us in my family getting very sick with the bird flu and 2 of which were in the hospital, my dad and my sister. Thankfully my dad was only there 2 days, but no one ever thought that we would face a huge scarce with my sister almost dying, being intubated for 2 and 1/2 weeks and then a whole process of recovery that required her to be in the hospital for 2 months. It really took a toll on all of us. It took a toll on me mentally. There were a lot of dark thoughts that started to consume me. Not even my parents know about it. I needed my space and kept to myself for the most part. It was so hard to focus. Didn’t talk to friends, only my closest cousin, and church fam helped with lots of prayers. That’s why this year is special in that way. I went through all of that but especially my sister, and I’m so grateful to see another year of life and thankful that the good Lord has made a huge miracle and giving my sister a second chance at life and getting back on track. Today I’ll be celebrating my bday at the place y’all know I love, Disneyland, a place where dreams do inspire to come true. Thank you all for the years, your love and friendship. And hope to see you all more this year. Hope to dance more, hope to create more. Hope to add more and showcase my other talents now. Now is the time. Love you all ❤️ Wally
