Join us Saturday, May 2, 1:30-3pm to celebrate @t.a.t.y.x ‘s exhibition which explores the notion of the COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS, a term introduced by Carl Jung to describe a shared reservoir of archetypes, symbols, and inherited psychic patterns common to all humanity.
Please RSVP. Link in Bio.
Through abstraction, Tatiana Carvalho investigates this invisible structure, translating it into visual form through gesture, layering, and material tension. Her works function as intuitive mappings of the psyche, where personal memory dissolves into universal resonance.
Using acrylic, oil pastel, and charcoal, Carvalho builds surfaces that oscillate between chaos and structure, revealing traces of the subconscious as they emerge and recede. The compositions resist fixed interpretation, inviting viewers into an experiential encounter rather than a narrative reading.
“Collective Unconscious” positions painting as both ritual and inquiry — a process of accessing what lies beneath individuality and reconnecting with a shared human interior.
I had the privilege of speaking to the @silicon_valley_open_studios board and community about the great things made possible when you unoptimize.
The talk traced the origin story of Silicon Valley Open Studios — founded by the late Liz Kraft, built entirely by volunteers, and sustained for forty years by people motivated by love, not market — and made the case that the amateur spirit that built it is exactly what will carry it into the next forty years.
We talked neuroscience. We talked U-Haul galleries and art motels. We talked about why the brain was never built for optimization, just connection like the kind you get in art spaces.
Huge thank you to Linda Nystrom and the entire SVOS board for the invitation, the conversation, and the trust. You are doing something extraordinary and the best is ahead of you.
If you’ve never experienced Silicon Valley Open Studios — three weekends every May, free, open to everyone, artists opening their studios to strangers — now is the time.
The original strategy was love. It should stay that way.
So inspired by Tatiana Carvalho’s new exhibition, Collective Unconscious—ON VIEW NOW. ✨

ABOUT
Tatiana Carvalho is a self-taught abstract expressionist artist hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Born and raised in
the vibrant city, she developed a deep passion for art from an early age.
Growing up surrounded by Brazil’s rich artistic heritage and diverse cultural influences, Tatiana’s creativity flourished, leading her on a remarkable journey.
For Carvalho, art served as a means of self-healing, allowing her to delve into the hidden recesses of her own mind and emotions. She believed that by tapping into the collective unconscious, she could uncover universal symbols and archetypes that transcend cultural boundaries.
By infusing her paintings with these symbolic elements, she aimed to create a visual language that transcends the limitations of words, inviting viewers to connect with their own intuitive understanding of the world.

Infinite Spark: Messages from the Universe ✨
Featuring artwork by @lbaciart
Cosmic, luminous, and quietly breathtaking, Infinite Spark draws on NASA imagery of supernovas, stars, and nebulas to explore our deep connection to the night sky. These acrylic paintings shimmer with light and meaning: ancestral, scientific, and oh so human.
✨ This exhibition is truly stunning in person, the surfaces sparkle, the colors glow, and the experience can’t be captured on a screen. Come see it while it’s on view and spend some time with the universe.

Artists live here—but not without a fight.
San Francisco is losing the infrastructure that makes creative life possible. More closures are coming. More artists will leave unless we organize, focus, and act.
This gathering is about turning urgency into visibility, collective pressure, and real next steps. Not next year. Now.
Join us at SOMArts, 2/13, 4–8pm.
Huge thx @somarts and all the organizers!
