Frame corners must be strong and durable to uphold the integrity of the whole frame and art. Here at Waldo, we use multiple wooden splines in our frames to keep the corners extra hardwearing.
CONSERVATION feature ✨: Before and After
Recently, we repaired a damaged frame by making moulds of the original carvings to replicate the missing pieces. Once the details were restored, the gilding was toned to enhance the richness of the yellow gold.
Then, we cleaned the painting which revealed a wealth of previously hidden detail including the leaves and bright colors on the trees. 🍂
