After 18 festivals (Winooski, Portland & Detroit) in 15 wild years, it’s with deep gratitude and heavy hearts that we announce that Waking Windows festivals are coming to a close after this year. While we’re stepping away from the festivals, we will still be presenting shows around town.
Like many independent festivals and events, we’ve faced growing financial instability in almost every aspect of what we do. The increasing demand of our personal lives and families has made us confront the hard truth about our future as well. This has always been a labor of love and we did not want it to end, but it’s the current reality we are facing. This decision was not made lightly.
We literally could not have done it without our amazing community and supporters. We never took it for granted and we know how lucky we are to be able to do what we love for so long. The bond we’ve shared, the magic we’ve created, the collaborations, the moments of joy and discovery, and the friendships we’ve built will stay with us forever. To every performer, artist, fan,
venue, sponsor, staff member, volunteer and human who poured their heart into this journey, we thank you; you helped create something rare and beautiful.
But before we close this chapter, we want to celebrate with all of you who’ve made these years so special. If you’re able, please buy your ticket before May 1st. Your support directly helps us, the artists, and everyone working hard to make this final celebration as unforgettable as possible. We know times are tough but if we don’t keep showing up for the things we love, they’ll continue to disappear.
Let’s go for one more round of hugs and high fives around the rotary! Only 14 more sleeps!
Ali, Brian, Nick & Paddy 🤍
Couldn’t let the weekend go by without saying hi 👋 We’re still together, just a little bit different this year. Hope you got to hang with friends and family and celebrate the start of spring. Miss you all 🦋☀️🍦🪩 keep showing up for each other 🤘
Tomorrow! 4/29 - Advance Base w/ Kristin Daelyn & Blueberry Betty at The Monkey House. Doors 7:00pm / Show 7:30pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - The Magnetic Fields, Friendship, Lomelda.
Singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth performs poignant, lushly arranged indie pop songs as Advance Base. Previously known for his beloved indie electronic outfit Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, which released several albums and toured constantly between 1997 and 2010, he retired the project and started fresh, establishing Advance Base in 2011. Featuring an organic-sounding mix of acoustic instrumentation and minimal electronics, albums such as 2015’s Nephew in the Wild and 2018’s Animal Companionship showcased an understated singing style and affecting lyrics. Horrible Occurrences, a concept album set in a fictional town called Richmond, appeared in 2024.
Kristin Daelyn is an indie folk artist & fingerstyle guitarist based in Philadelphia.
Blueberry Betty is the sun-soaked indie folk-rock project of Ben Schnier. Built around quirky personal tunes and a rotating 5 to 8 piece group of friends, the music is rooted in sunny country roads and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Their live performances are joyful and full of character, balancing warmth, humor, and sincerity in a way that feels as lived-in as it is fun.
Tomorrow! 4/24 - Emily Yacina w/ Gracie Gray & Bo Malcolm at The Monkey House. Doors 7:30pm / Show 8:00pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - Frankie Cosmos, Slow Pulp, villagerrr.
Emily Yacina is a Pennsylvania-born Long Beach-based musician and songwriter who began writing and recording songs at age 14. Drawing on making sense of relationships and navigating inner cosmology, Yacina released her first set of songs in 2011 and continued to release batches of EPs over the proceeding years, culminating eventually in her first full length album Heart Sky in 2017 and her first studio album Remember The Silver in 2019. Her latest album, “Veilfall,” was released on September 26, 2025.
Gracie Gray is a indie folk recording artist. Written, recorded, and produced primarily in her
bedroom, the songs are shaped by intimate spaces. Across three albums, they explore distance,
connection, memory, and changing relationships. With lo-fi arrangements and simple repeated
phrases, her focus is more on feeling than narrative.
Bo writes to get in touch with a sense of wonder. His songs tell stories of trial and triumph, carefully crafted to draw attention to life in all its multitudes—beauty, brutality, and strangeness.
Next Wednesday! 4/29 - Advance Base w/ Kristin Daelyn & Blueberry Betty at The Monkey House. Doors 7:00pm / Show 7:30pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - The Magnetic Fields, Friendship, Lomelda.
Advance Base is the melancholic soft rock recording project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as “lo-fi,” “depressed” & “weirdly uplifting.”

Next Friday! 4/24 - Emily Yacina w/ Gracie Gray & Bo Malcolm at The Monkey House. Doors 7:30pm / Show 8:00pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - Frankie Cosmos, Slow Pulp, villagerrr.
Emily Yacina has been self-releasing music for over a decade, offering a “treasure trove of wrenching melodies and delightfully off-kilter meditations on time and absence” (Stereogum). Although she’s collaborated with some of the most notable names in indie rock, including Alex G and Rostam, Yacina is a singular artist. Her voice is compelling and instantly recognizable, sometimes winking, lilting, or layered and chopped and used as an instrument. Veilfall arrives six years after the release of her debut studio album, and is another mesmerizing entry in her catalogue. Illuminating Yacina’s sharp command of crystalline production, Veilfall showcases an expanded roster of collaborators operating at the highest level. Her ability to mine intangible emotions is sage-like, as she navigates formless concepts like the process of grieving and the types of alienation that can follow in its wake.
Tonight! 4/9 - R.A.P. Ferreira ‘Superior Healing Style East Coast Tour’ w/ Konflik, DJ Nasteeluvzyou & Robscure at The Monkey House. Doors 7:45pm / Show 8:15pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - Dope live hip hop, Kenny Segal, Pink Siifu, Billy Woods.
R.A.P. Ferreira fka milo aka scallops hotel is an mc, producer, and theorist working in the Blackarts tradition commonly categorized as rap. Having founded the label ruby yacht in 2015 and since releasing all of his music through this channel, Ferreira has earned a sizable following within independent hip hop by rigorous, constant touring and an elevated, explorational style of performance. He is known for an uncompromised, utopic flow that speaks directly to the root of the listener. By 2018, the young artist galvanized his presence in the American rap scene with the opening of Soulfolks Records & Tapes in Biddeford, Maine (now located in Nashville).Ferreira has a sprawling, limitless catalog ranging years, names, geographies, intentions, collaborations, and vocabularies. In an era defined by keyword search, soundbyte, cosign, marketing and virality this artist’s work stands out by not cow tailing to the movements and trends of the digital sphere. He currently makes his home in Nashville, Tennessee, where he continues to helm the Ruby Yacht while studying to become a blues guitar legend and a farmer.
Next Thursday! 4/9 - R.A.P. Ferreira ‘Superior Healing Style East Coast Tour’ w/ Konflik, DJ Nasteeluvzyou & Robscure at The Monkey House. Doors 7:45pm / Show 8:15pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - Dope live hip hop, Kenny Segal, Pink Siifu, Billy Woods.
Sublimation compels the artist to beauty. Even the worker trafficking in ugly does so because they find the truth of the unattractive to be most gorgeous of all. As kindness becomes antiquated and paranoia the normal operating procedure, an art form as indulgent as rap can seem tasteless. Rap requires electricity, speakers, cables, stands, a table, lights, protection from the elements, an audience with at least one dollar. Rap grew with excess and is built from sampling buffet plates of perfection. The styles no longer ring free. His ambitions are an ever widening vocabulary, a full gas tank, the next tour’s itinerary. R.A.P. Ferreira will rap forever.
!Tonight! 3/6 - Motherhood w/ Repelican & The Eyetraps at The Monkey House. Doors 7:30pm / Show 8:00pm / 21+ Tickets on sale via Dice.fm. RIYL - Garage, Surf, Indie Rock.
Motherhood’s newest garage-surf long-player - Thunder Perfect Mind - is a divinity-defying deep-dive of forced perspective, a “Dark, Expanding Cloud” and some light time travel. Playful as a puppy but smart as a whip, New Brunswick, Canada’s MOTHERHOOD has a knack for packing deeply conceptual art rock into a delightfully unpretentious package. Oft-described as “evil Beach Boys”, the trio blends the ferocity of punk, the finesse of surf, and the raw energy of garage into something as complex as it is endearing.
Repelican is a former DC / former bmore / former philly / current vermont-based music projectile.
The Eyetraps are an indie rock band from Burlington, VT. Drawing inspiration from ’90s grunge and modern indie rock, their self-titled debut EP is built on heavy, distorted guitars, raw vocals, and stacked harmonies to tell tales of regret, loss, and the lies we tell ourselves.

Playful as a puppy but smart as a whip, New Brunswick, Canada’s MOTHERHOOD has a knack for packing deeply conceptual art rock into a delightfully unpretentious package. Equal parts complex and unpredictable, the trio has assembled a bold body of work that blends the ferocity of punk, the finesse of surf, and the raw energy of garage into something riffy, rhythmic, and categorically ‘other’.
