“I created an audiovisual sculpture, like a spherical billboard. I took all the colors of the lake, all the narrative material from the lake — the frogs, the weather, the shade, the heat, the cloud, the dust, and salt crystals and mineral crystals that can only be seen under polarized microscopes — and made a compilation of everything.” — Olafur Eliasson speaking about “A symphony of disappearing sounds for the Great Salt Lake” in The New York Times   Read more of this piece from Farah Nayeri at The New York Times using the link in our bio.   #WakeGSL #NewYorkTimes

“What does extinction or a shrinking lake sound and look like? This is the question that structured Eliasson’s project. The artist describes this work as “a symphony the animals are performing for us”, a framing that decentres human viewers while imploring us to consider our role as stewards of the lake...” Read more of this piece from Angella d’Avignon (@heyangella ) at The Art Newspaper using the link in our bio. #WakeGSL #TheArtNewspaper

There is no Salt Lake City without the Great Salt Lake. 1,150 square miles of its shore are dust...that’s more than 10x the size of our city. There is no action that is too small. @wakegsl is a public art program that’s been drawing awareness to the lake’s decline for the past two years, presented by @slcartscouncil , our Mayor’s Office, and @bloombergdotorg .
