Hello from Chengdu! We’ve spent the past week in China working with @chengduifs_official and an incredible team at UCCA Lab @ucca798 to bring you “Stop, Listen, Look”, our first large-scale artwork debuting in Sichuan Province. Stop, Listen, Look channels the spirit of the city. With music, color, and motion tied to local rhythms, it offers an interactive experience across generations. The horn-like form transmits sound and invites light and shadow to move with the pace of the viewer. We even designed seesaws (!!) to create a playful, ever-shifting rhythm—because art isn’t complete until people engage with it. On opening day, we were floored by the crowd that came to play. We drew from Chengdu’s culture and symbolism—especially the circle, found everywhere from the Golden Sun Bird to Anshun Bridge to the city’s circular layout. Our site at IFS is built around circular forms, symbolizing continuity and the fusion of ancient and modern life. This piece marks many firsts: our first large-scale outdoor artwork in China (over 7m tall!), and our first sound collaboration with @ericlaumusic , who created an evolving soundtrack based on the city’s energy. The site also featured a beautiful sound installation by local artist Jin Huang, with 8 tones of Chengdu woven throughout the experience. Deep thanks to the amazing team at UCCA Lab—Sally, King, Shirley, Shangyuan, Yuan, Leo, and @kevinlaudz —for your insight, kindness, and unstoppable dedication (and for introducing us to the best Sichuan food!).❤️‍🔥

Hello Tokyo, we have some news for you! We’ve been here this past month working away quietly to prepare our first large-scale outdoor installation in Japan, “Falling Into Place,” a series of larger-than-life shapes that is equal parts sculpture and playground on the rooftop of Ginza Six’s Art Park. In this artwork, we play with positives and negatives to create a multicolored system for discovery and connection. Bring your kids, bring your parents, bring your partners! We can’t help but be a little emotional with the reveal of this new work—Tokyo feels like a second home to us and it’s been our dream for nearly a decade (which is as long as we’ve been coming here!) to be able to contribute something to such an infinitely creative city full of endless talent and inspiration. We’re also extremely humbled to be able to create something of such a large scale. The location of the Art Park is surrounded by a staggering panoramic view of the city, and we hope that our chromatic pieces give a supporting contrast to the skyline beyond. Seeing kids climbing and jumping has filled our hearts with so much happiness! Our dream to make a playground feels like it has been achieved, and our hearts are full. Many thanks to @ginzasix_official , who has supported us and united with us in the goal to support an audience of all ages. We also give infinite thank yous to @hakutencreative and Hara-san, whose creative solutions to our production and fabrication needs are some of the best we have ever seen. And finally, our long-term friends and partners at @bygasbook @fatlipergirl @yu_torisaka who we could not have done any of this without! We’re so grateful to be able to share a passion for these possibilities. 💗 #rooftopartpark

Debuting in Singapore at Millenia Walk this weekend, Monument to Movement is an ever-moving sculpture standing 14 meters high. This is a monumental work that invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of celebrations across cultures and time. It’s also our first artwork to debut in Southeast Asia! We were approached by OuterEdit in Singapore to propose an idea for a non-conventional tree that was unmissable in the large space. If you give us a maximum limit on size, we will do our best to reach it! We wanted to be conscious of our footprint for taking up such a large space, and aimed to use materials that could have a greater longevity after the holiday season. Steel and cardboard compositions were used and will be reused to transition the piece from Christmas into Lunar New Year. After that, the work will be redeveloped into smaller sculptures that will be spread throughout Millenia Walk. Movement is something that has always appealed to us but we have remained patient in introducing it in a project, knowing that one day we would have our opportunity to explore it. We love the idea of seeing work that is constantly in flux—there is a sense of energy and momentum that feels never ending. In Monument to Movement, we sought to create a space where everyone can take time to reflect and be present while considering the hope that the new year will bring. Visitors can contemplate the progression of time by outwardly observing the sculpture, or by fully immersing themselves in the moment that moves the monument. Thank you to the incredible teams who have been a part of this achievement: Client: @milleniawalk Agency: @OuterEdit Fabrication: @2ideas.co Design: @wadeandleta

That’s it. That’s the post. This is what we believe and this is the guiding line of our studio practice. 1000%, every time, as much as we can until we can’t anymore. We always put everything we can into our projects and that’s why we treat each one like it could be our very last—every opportunity is a possibility for growth and development, and that’s why we will work our hardest until the very end. Thank you for inviting us to speak about our journey and about our work @graphikamanila 🫂 It was a joy to be with you all.

Two years ago, we transformed the rooftop of @ginzasix_official into a colorful spring playscape—bringing music to your eyes in Tokyo. We called it “Falling Into Place,” a reflection of a moment when many things were aligning as we redefined and redirected our work. We spent hours watching families and people of all ages play, sit, jump, and invent their own ways of interacting. The shape kids gravitated toward most was the oblong circle. They saw it as a slide, a toy car ramp, something to climb—something entirely their own. Every project carries these lessons forward: the way we define a space is never fixed, and children are always the first to show us what’s possible. Grateful to @ginzasix_official for making it possible, and to @bygasbook @fatlipergirl @yu_torisaka @hakuten__ 🩵💜❤️

Last week, we were in Manila to give a talk to an enthusiastic audience of 3,500 people about our work, life, and the manifestation of our creative practice at @graphikamanila . It isn’t often now that we give talks at conferences, but when we do, it really is such an outpour for us of our dreams, our desires, but also of our reflections and our gratefulness for where we have managed to end up. We signed autographs (a first) and took selfies for over an hour before we were swept away by security for a speaker’s dinner—it was a whirlwind. If you had told us 10 years ago when we started the studio it would lead to speaking to 3,500 people and deleting our presentation off our computer 1 hour before speaking we wouldn’t believe you. Thankfully, we recovered it in time. We’re so grateful to be given a platform to speak about our journey openly and honestly. The talk is a representation of our journey to get here and our continued journey. Thank you everyone for being a part of this story and for supporting us, rooting for us, and believing in us. We’re forever motivated by your words of encouragement.

Introducing our first beloved homeware item, the Ellipsis vase, presented at the Home-Home exhibition at @bundle_gallery_ in Chiba, curated by @akasaki_vanhuyse . Bringing together 16 visual artists from around the world, the exhibition took place within a house designed in 1974 by Ren Suzuki, who worked with Le Corbusier in France in the 1950s before returning to Japan. We wanted to take the opportunity to create something that people could live with, since our sculptural work can be quite large in size and we wanted to push ourselves to make something that could sit in the intimate and personal space of a home. Ellipsis is made from one solid piece of keyaki wood and turned to develop the ōdango-like form and finished with a black acrylic coating which still allows the wood to present its natural beauty while protecting it for longevity. Originally intended to be a candle holder, we didn’t want to ruin such a beautiful form with melted wax, and opted to create a vase instead. The possibilities for self expression were greater with this context, and for the exhibition, a single branch of early ume blossoms felt like the right amount of styling. We’re looking forward to seeing how it can be styled as the seasons change. Our hope is that, as a studio, we can make works of all kinds that people can appreciate. Whether something is 14 meters or 14 centimeters, we want to give use to these things and encourage personal expression. The big challenge here was to make the material sing and as you can see we limited the color! We want to thank @patioworkshop for helping us to craft this beautiful project and for being willing to try something new! And thank you @akasaki_vanhuyse for the invitation to be involved 🤍

As we shape our new website, we found ourselves returning to our Work and Life videos. They come from a belief we carry with us always, that work and life are not separate paths but one living ecosystem, each moment feeding the next. Travel becomes inspiration. Inspiration becomes form. Form becomes a reason to keep moving through the world together. We are grateful every day to make the work we once only dreamed about, to see new places side by side, and to let those experiences flow back into what we create. Here are some of our favorite moments. Hope you liiiiiiike. Paired with one of our fav songs, one about finding love in the mundane 💕 Thanks as always to @jawshy4eva for shooting with us!

How time flies. 10 years married to my best friend and personal patronious charm Leta. Since meeting on @okcupid and quickly spending weekends and all night together, we found a bond we didn’t think we could imagine. To some, work and life shouldn’t and couldn’t be mixed, but for us it really is what makes us feel whole—to be able to experience anything and everything together with the person you love, what can be better than that? She is the bold and passionate person that pushes me out of my personal comforts, with a special ability to see details and analyze with a special Scorpio edge 😝. A passionate force with ultra focus who married a man that works best when jumping between a million things. A person who dresses for battle every day, knowing her emotional self and wanting to protect it. Bold clothing that not only wraps her body but all her life’s experiences of gaming, anime, and adventure. She wears her emotion and her life on her sleeve. I can’t believe I found the perfect piece to life’s big puzzle. The person who will always give me an opinion that is filled with all their emotion. The person who had to have a shot of vodka before our first date to build up the courage to meet is also the person who is not afraid to tell you how they see it. The fire we all need beside us. Someone once said our star signs don’t always mix well, but when they do it’s all in. A water and a fire sign—the way I see it, you can’t make the perfect tea or matcha without water and fire. I know you are reading this the second I post it, Leta, but just so you know, I’m happy to keep driving you anywhere and lifting your heavy suitcases up mountains or four flights of stairs for years to come. Love you.

Just in time before the end of the year, we are excited to share our new website! When we started the studio, we were graphic designers — but over the last few years we’ve been building toward bigger, different things; the things we always wanted to create together. We couldn’t be happier to be evolving as people through the work we’re making. This new site reflects that journey, with an index of completed projects (and even some that never made it past the finish line). We also made new performance videos that capture the spirit of our practice and the ecosystem around our lives. Like we all know, these things take a lot of time to create and we want to thank Sons&Co for once again helping us bring our thoughts to life and to @jawshy4eva for shooting with us for the performance videos. We hope you’ll enjoy the site as much as we do!

It’s been about one year since we completed our largest installation ever in Singapore at @milleniawalk . This was our first time incorporating movement into our works and it has become an addicting component of our projects moving forward. Scale brings a sense of wonder, and movement transfixes the viewer. While it was up throughout the months from November 2024 until February 2025, this Monument to Movement transformed from earthy greens and blues to festive golds and reds, exploding into celebration and growing in scale (you can see the transformation on the final slide). Swings were incorporated into the base of the piece to encourage people to participate in the piece, adding further movement to the overall composition. Thank you to @outeredit for bringing us on and allowing us to explore such scale and transformation!

One of our favorite parts of the process. Before we make it real, we have to see how it moves, how it scales, and how it feels. And how do we sit within it? It has only been a few years of this, but we used to only understand space by drawing it in 2D. Now, we need a bigger picture. We like to think about how an environment surrounds our work, how the wind affects it, and how humans affect it. We need to understand it from all sides, angles, and colors. As our projects get larger, understanding our space is imperative, and understanding the environment in which it sits is even more so. As Daniel Buren has said, “The work in situ...opens up the field for a possible transformation of the very place itself”. Slide 1: Stop, Listen, Look - Chengdu, China Slide 2: Monument to Movement - Singapore Slide 3: Now You See Me - London, United Kingdom Slide 4: Reflection Point - New York City, USA Slide 5: Alternative view to Stop, Listen, Look - Chengdu, China
