A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at @fridmangallery for unspoken//unbroken 💜🌷
Almost a month ago unspoken//unbroken was presented, creating a space of remembrance, resilience, and community. This multidisciplinary experience was made possible by the incredible WADE community and the hands that helped our “Garden of the Taken” grow. Each paper flower represents a quiet gesture of attention, transforming data into a floral archive that makes the unspoken visible.
We are deeply grateful to @fridmangallery for hosting us and to the @nyculture (NYC Department of Cultural Affairs) for their vital support in bringing this vision to life. To our artists, donors, and every guest who moved alongside us—thank you for helping us illuminate these stories with care and activism.
Together, we share the unspoken and remain unbroken.

Last week, DVP clients and peer leaders contributed to a powerful gallery exhibition organized by the lovely @wade.dance at @fridmangallery . Flowers made by the DVP community went on display as part of an impactful interactive exhibit honoring lives lost to femicide. 🌷

What remains unspoken still matters. 💜
In this preview of our interview with Giada Miettini, we reflect on Unspoken Unbroken—and the importance of creating spaces where stories can be shared, heard, and honored.
At Day One, we believe in the power of voice, healing, and community.

Today at the Day One Office, Giada Matteini, Founder and Artistic Director of WADE, facilitated “Making Flowers, Holding Stories”, a paper flower workshop honoring lives lost to gender-based violence. 🌺
The flowers created during the workshop will become part of unspoken//unbroken, a one-day community pop-up exhibition that brings together art, dialogue, and reflection to raise awareness about the ongoing work to end femicide and domestic violence.
We invite our community to visit the installation and witness this collective expression of care and remembrance. 🖤 🗓️ Monday, March 16, 2026
⏰ 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
📍 Fridman Gallery
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Exciting news: we’re honored to announce that we’ve received a grant from @nyculture FY2026 Cultural Development Fund (CDF)!! Art and culture are the heart and soul of New York, and we’re proud to be among the nearly 1,200 groups receiving city support this year thanks to the partnership between the NYC Mayor’s Office and the City Council.
This investment in our work will help us bring accessible, affordable cultural programs to our community. Our CDF grant will support our public program that is building on work initiated during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, this March presentation expands the project’s reach through immersive installation, live music, somatic practice, and dialogue.

UNSPOKEN//UNBROKEN 🌸
As part of unspoken//unbroken, WADE Dance invites you to Making Flowers, Holding Stories — a reflective paper flower workshop led by Giada Matteini.
Through the slow process of folding, cutting, and shaping, we gather to honor lives lost to femicide and reflect on the individuals behind the statistics. Each flower becomes a quiet gesture of attention — holding a story with care.
The flowers made in these workshops will become part of the unspoken//unbroken gallery installation, appearing throughout the space as a collective expression of remembrance and visibility.
This work grows through community. We will continue hosting flower-making gatherings leading up to the gallery, and throughout the exhibition visitors will also be invited to make flowers in the space.
