Canadian architecture practice ACDF Architecture (@acdfarchitecture ) has completed an apartment complex in Gatineau, #Canada. Named Mellem Manoir-des-Trembles, the apartment complex, which was created in close collaboration between ACDF Architecture and Maître Carré, is notable primarily for its mastery of balance, a type of architectural „dosage“ that has become crucial in the current environment. As part of the Bio for Piri project, the 2025 cohort of IAAC’s Master in Ecological Architecture and Advanced Construction created and constructed the 20 square meters experimental timber cabin, titled as Forestone Cabin. This project, which is run by the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera and supported by the Biodiversity Foundation using European Next Generation funds, encourages the sustainable use of local timber from Pyrenean forests, particularly in Alinyà (Lleida), and regenerative forestry. The rocky landscape of the Pyrenees served as the inspiration for the cabin’s sculpture. Its faceted geometry, which is made up of sloping roof and inclined walls that adapt to programmatic needs, climate, and solar exposure, is conceived as a block of stone that seems to have rolled down the mountain and settled naturally on the site. In the heart of Xiangyang Park, where nature and architecture intertwine, YOUWEI’s inaugural concept store stands as a profound testament to its philosophy: “I am rooted, but I flow.” This statement encapsulates the essence of a space that not only honors its surroundings but also invites exploration and evolution. At the core of the store’s design lies a majestic tree, a living symbol of stability and growth, around which the entire structure is thoughtfully crafted. The design team of @say_architects_official meticulously preserved the relationship between architecture and nature, allowing the building to evolve organically over time. This approach serves as a reflection of YOUWEI’s identity, enabling the brand’s narrative to extend seamlessly throughout the space. Mix Architecture created the Red Box, which is composed of red concrete. „Red“ reacts to its surroundings, which can signify three different things. The „red“ of chronological memory is the first thing the Red Box reacts to. Founded in the 1950s, Red Mountain Park—formerly known as Nanjing Combat Machinery Factory—has witnessed the rapid growth of the New China. The development of several generations has been accompanied by the „red“ memory. Read the full design story and see more images on 👉🏻 @wacommunity News. . . . . . Image 1 📸 Xiaobin LV. Helsinki-based archtecture practice Anttinen Oiva Architects (@anttinen_oiva_architects ) has built a solid wooden office and hotel building that becomes a pioneering example of sustainable wood construction in a sensitive urban environment in the waterfront of Helsinki, Finland. Katajanokan Laituri, the first modern structure on the once-industrial Katajanokka waterfront that directly connects to Helsinki’s famous marine cityscape, leads the transformation of this embankment into an open urban area that is available to everyone. These guesthouses, which are situated on a private estate in central #Ukraine, provide a modern take on the classic Ukrainian mazanka, the quintessential country residence molded by regional materials, climate, and customs. Named Hata-Mazanka, the 50-square-metre houses were designed by Kyiv-based design studio YOD Group (@yod.group ). Thick whitewashed walls, thatched roofs, and frequent plastering as an act of care and an aim toward order and beauty are examples of basic yet expressive solutions that led to the evolution of traditional Ukrainian vernacular architecture.
