Bratislava has one of the most concentrated gallery scenes in Central Europe. Over a dozen private galleries sit within the historic city center, all within walking distance of each other. You can see all of them IN a single day.
Gallery Weekend Bratislava brings these galleries together this June, presenting new and premiere exhibitions by local and international artists across the city’s leading private and independent spaces.
The event is organized by Steinhauser Gallery, nico bernath, and Gabriel Bishop.
All exhibitions open simultaneously on Friday, June 5, at 18:00. Galleries remain open until 21:00 on Friday evening, and from 12:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Preparations are in full swing for Aaaand… Scene / Und… Szene at Shedhalle Zürich, opening April 15, where Paula Gogola and Natália Sýkorová are among twelve artists taking part.
The show is built around the concept of Re-Props, works that function simultaneously as artworks and exhibition infrastructure, designed to travel through the programme and adapt to new contexts over the coming years.

The Prapor / Vera Renczi (2026) introduces the image of Vera Renczi–a Romanian woman believed to have killed around thirty-five men in the 1920s by poisoning them with arsenic. Her husband and lovers all vanished within months or weeks after becoming romantically involved with her. It is believed, she took pleasure in sitting in her basement surrounded by the coffins of her former lovers.
Her portrait, rendered in acrylic on linen, is framed within a Romanian Orthodox prapor—a religious form used in liturgical processions. By subverting this religious format through a controversial narrative, Ciurescu foregrounds neurosis and mania as symptomatic forces of society. The body of work presented at ELEGIA is set within wooden frames and pedestals made of dark brown wood, evoking a bourgeois coldness: a space of impenetrability and sexuality grounded in the private sphere.
