Where do you even begin with electrics in a van? Whilst this isn’t our first conversion, it is the first larger electrical setup we’ve built.
We’ve gone gas free which is certainly more of an investment (bigger solar panels & batteries to store the energy + the appropriate sized inverter) but Vunked cater for all shapes, sizes and requirements and is customisable to work for your specific needs. You might just be in your van on weekends and short trips so need a minimal setup!
But being gas free & reliant on renewable energy was important to us. Saving money by buying an older van meant we could invest this into the conversion 🚐

My cheap custom switch panel
This was something I really wanted to do for a while. So satisfying to finally have it working and it’s really been worth the extra wiring to fit it next to the sliding door. Bottom one is reading lights, second is fan, third up is outside lights and top is diesel heater. Did I miss anything? Lemme know!? 🧐

IT DIDNT WORK
Wiring up the 12v fuse box that distributes the power to everything, fridge, lights, usb charging
I’d be lying if it didn’t say this one came with its challenges, without @vunkedvans I would’ve been convinced I’d fkkked it 😅 but when that first light turned on WHAT A RELIEF. Very rewarding

THE ELECTRICS
First off, DC-DC charging. This means that while I drive when the van battery is full, all that extra electricity goes into the leisure battery under the drivers seat.
Big up @vunkedvans for the help, definitely couldn’t have done this alone.
I didn’t opt for an EcoFlow system, even though I go have one because I like the fact this system doesn’t take up any space in the back of the van at all, keeping a fully modular design still. And yes I could have unplugged an EcoFlow, but I’d end up always having to choose between lights or space, this way I can have both!
