wanted to share a few clips from @vuivefest on Friday. there are not many experiences in nyc that center vietnamese music and faces in nightlife (tbh this might be the only 1) and it meant so so much to me to get the call from @hien999 and @leonguyencomedy to soundtrack the peak time slot.
this was the first vinahouse set I’ve ever played and it was so much fun to connect vinahouse to other diasporic genres like baile funk and drill that have had a huge influence on me and the lava sound.

HIEN (she/her) is a Budapest-born singer, producer, and sound designer based in Brooklyn. Blending soulful vocals with ethereal electronic textures and Vietnamese-Hungarian influences, she creates left-field pop shaped by a life lived between cultures, languages, and cities.
She’ll be jumping in with live vocal improvisations throughout the night.
