Happy @biketoworkday_bayarea ! VTA’s Gil N. enjoys biking to work as a transportation planner for the VTA BART Silicon Phase II Extension Project. By extending @sfbayarearapidtransit service through San Jose and Santa Clara, we’re ringing the Bay with transit, and biking is a great way to achieve your last mile on the way to work.

We’re wrapping up National Safety Construction Week with a spotlight on our on-site Construction Safety Manager, Jason Pielech! Jason comes from a family in the safety industry, and is passionate about helping to build and strengthen a positive safety environment. This week serves as an important reminder that every safety regulation and procedure matters. It’s with these procedures that we’ve achieved 800,000 safe working hours since construction began in Summer 2024! Thank you to our hardworking crews, staff and leadership who help reinforce the values and initiatives that keep our worksite safe! 🚧👷‍♂️👷‍♀️🚧 #NationalConstructionSafetyWeek #ConstructionSafety #VTABSV2 #BartSiliconValley @scvta

The final D-wall (an underground support wall) panel at the caterpillar shaft has now been installed at VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension Project West Portal site! This is a deep and interconnected supportive structure system extending 133.5 feet underground. Here’s exactly how it comes together: 🔧 Reinforced concrete D-walls formed by steel cages to strengthen the structure 🏗️ Cross walls and Y-panels tied together for added stability 🌀 Tunnel eye (where the Tunnel Boring Machine enters the ground) strengthened with steel and glass fiber designed to allow the TBM to safely cut through Every foot of soil excavated and every wall installed brings the project one step closer to launching the tunnel boring machine and making future stations possible. Stay tuned for updates at VTABART.org! #VTABSV2 #BARTSiliconValley @scvta
