🎓✨ Congratulations, Ciara! ✨🎓
This week, Ciara Henriques graduates with a degree in political science, concentrating in legal studies, and a minor in science, technology, and law.
Ciara’s global journey took her to Switzerland through the European Affairs in a Global Context program at the @vtstegercenter . Living and studying abroad gave her a deeper appreciation for the Virginia Tech community while offering an unforgettable classroom experience, one shaped by visits to European institutions and hands-on engagement with global systems.
Studying abroad pushed Ciara beyond her comfort zone, strengthening her adaptability and deepening her understanding of global interconnectedness and cross-cultural collaboration. Those experiences didn’t just shape her time abroad, they inspired her next step back home.
As a Peer Advisor in the Global Education Office, Ciara came full circle, using her firsthand experience to guide fellow Hokies through the study abroad process. From sharing insights to reminding students of the excitement that comes with stepping into the world, she helped expand global perspectives across our campus.
We are so proud to celebrate Ciara and the impact she made as a Peer Advisor. Congratulations on a journey that reflects the very heart of global education, and best wishes for all that comes next! 🧡✈️

🎓✨ Congratulations, Nada! ✨🎓
This week, Nada celebrates graduation and the next chapter of her Hokie journey.
During her time with the Global Education Office, Nada worked with the Global Safety team, where she gained a behind-the-scenes look at global risk management and compliance. Through this role, she connected with partners across the university and developed a deeper understanding of how global education functions beyond the classroom.
Nada reflects on her time at GEO as a meaningful shift in perspective. While she has long been involved in the study abroad space, working in Global Safety allowed her to see the systems, planning, and people that support students before they ever go abroad. She credits the experience - and the mentorship of Elizabeth, assistant director — with helping her better understand the complexity and importance of global compliance and safety.
Next up? Nada will begin her full-time role this summer as an HCM Compliance Associate at CAI, putting the skills she built at Virginia Tech to work in a professional compliance setting.
We are proud to have had Nada as part of the GEO team and can’t wait to see where her path leads next. Congratulations, Nada — and go Hokies! 🧡✈️

🎓✨ Congratulations, Gwen! ✨🎓
Next week, Gwen graduates with a degree in Public Relations!
Her global journey took her across two very different corners of the world. First to Europe through VT’s faculty-led Business and Culture in Europe program, and then all the way to Tokyo for a month of photojournalism with CIEE.
For Gwen, studying abroad turned travel and intercultural communication into real passions, and that is exactly what brought her to the Global Education Office.
As a Peer Advisor on our team, she helped fellow Hokies from so many different backgrounds imagine their own journeys overseas, all while pushing herself out of her comfort zone with that unforgettable month in Tokyo.
Next up? A little more travel before Gwen begins her career in the D.C. area. With her sights set on careers with global aspects, we know she will carry everything study abroad taught her into whatever comes next.
We are so proud to have had Gwen as part of the GEO team as a Peer Advisor. Go see the world (again) and keep building those global connections! 🧡✈️

🎓✨ Congratulations, CJ! ✨🎓
Next week, CJ graduates with a degree in Economics!
CJ spent his entire junior year at University College Cork in Ireland, where he played on the basketball team, got involved with the French Club and the Economics Club, and visited 15 new countries along the way.
Back in Blacksburg, CJ has made the most of his Hokie experience: volunteering at the Lyric, shooting pool in Hokie House, and serving as a Peer Advisor with the Global Education Office, helping fellow Hokies find a study abroad path that fits their academic needs.
Looking ahead, CJ heads to Wake Forest Law School before starting a career in law and policy. In his own words: “Virginia Tech has been a wonderful place to grow as a student and a person, and I finally know the answer to the age-old question. ‘What’s a Hokie?’ I am.”
We are so proud to have had CJ as part of the GEO team as a Peer Advisor, and we can not wait to see where the world takes him next. 🧡🌍

🎓✨ Congratulations, Nele! ✨🎓
Next week, Nele graduates with a double major in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology Management and Management Consulting & Analytics from the Pamplin College of Business
Here is the beautiful thing about Nele’s Hokie journey: it was a study abroad from day one. Having never been to the U.S. before Virginia Tech, every moment here was new and exciting, and she soaked up everything both inside and outside the classroom.
Then she did it all over again, this time in Singapore. A full semester at Singapore Management University immersed her in Singaporean culture, took her exploring across Southeast Asia, and gave her friendships she knows will last a lifetime.
Nele also brought that global perspective right back to our office, serving as a Peer Advisor with the Global Education Office and helping fellow Hokies imagine their own journeys overseas.
Looking ahead, Nele is planning to travel for a while before starting a job in Europe, with a master’s degree on the horizon a couple of years from now.
We are so proud to have had Nele as part of the GEO team as a Peer Advisor, and we can not wait to see where the world takes her next. 🧡🌍
