Today marks five years since our wedding. Our marriage is recognized by Colombia, my husband’s country of origin, and by Germany, where we live, yet it is still not recognized by Poland, which has been a member of the European Union since 2004. I wrote exactly the same thing five years ago, and it is disheartening that the ineffective and conservative government of Donald Tusk has not been able to do anything about it, despite the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the transcription of same-sex marriages concluded abroad—not to mention that more than half of Polish society is supportive of same-sex unions. There are always more important matters for the Polish government, or some obstacle that supposedly makes action impossible. We keep being told to wait, and in the end everything will be blocked by an ultra-right-wing president, while the government is either unable or unwilling to find a way out of this deadlock. So we have been waiting for over 20 years, even as Poland continues to benefit from being part of the European Union. I sincerely wish the best for the LGBTQ+ community in Poland—that they will finally have basic rights, and that the relationships of those who had the privilege to formalize them abroad will be recognized by Polish courts and authorities. How much longer are we supposed to wait before this government of incompetents actually does something???!!! #lgbtqia #samesexmarriage #husbands
A journey in a spaceship - that’s how guests of the last KlangHaus Festival 2026 evening described the experience in the 2nd part of the concert that started with Rei Nakamura’s already other dimensions reaching performance of Morton Feldman‘s last piano composition “Palais de Mari”.

Today in #Ulm at KlangHaus in Stadthaus Festival, together with @rei.nakamura.konzert we will play "Concerto" for piano and wireless speakers that I composed for Rei back in 2023 💙. Concerto for piano and wireless speakers (after Symphony No.3 for 200 wireless speakers) is a continuation of my work with sonic multiplicities. Replacing the orchestra with small electronic devices refers both to the industrial and the digital revolutions.
The first one allowed mass production of musical instruments and creating large homogenous orchestras, the second one allowed mass storing of sound and playing it at any place and any time.
The orchestra of speakers can be compared to a sound garden, where each seed is activated by the “conductor”, who arranges and distributes ca. 51 speakers in space, creating themes, lines, rhizomes or echoes.
Each speaker contains a memory card with a track, a larger number of speakers creates a multilayered texture and the accompaniment for the soloist.
The “conductor” controls the motion of the speakers around the audience, since the speakers can be passed from one person to another during the piece, changing the sonic/spatial constellation of the “accompaniment”.
Concerto was written for Rei Nakamura.

interactive concert performance exploring the Oder as a border river, a remembrance space, and a field of possibility.
Artistic direction: Claudia van Hasselt & Nicolas Wiese.
With: Wojtek Blecharz, Magdaléna Manderlová, Michal Kindernay, Daniel Eichholz, Roland Fidezius, Łukasz Jastrubczak, Schneider TM, Peter van Huffel, Rudi Fischerlehner.
Scientists: Hanna Schudy, Karol Chwastek, Oleksandra Shumilova, Natalie Klinard, David Bierbach, Jiří Neminář, Simon Teune.
FrauVonDa// continue their collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries for the third year. The collective of Czech, German, and Polish artists, biologists, historians, and philosophers focuses on the Oder as a place of possibility for peace and reconciliation. From the diverse perspectives of the project partners, a space for dialogue emerges in which the river’s past, present, and future are renegotiated.
FrauVonDa// weaves together regional perspectives from border regions into an investigative and associative plea for sensitive, sustainable communities. PEACES SO FAR is a concert, a space for discourse, and a collective reflection — an invitation to redefine the river not as a border, but as a connecting element and a fragile lifeline.
In Kooperation mit (und unterstützt von) dem Leibniz-Institut IGB, SCWiS Katowice, ON WATER / Berlin University Alliance, Gut Sonnenburg.
Gefördert vom Musikfonds, dem Deutsch-Tschechischen Zukunftsfonds und der Stadt Angermünde.
Ein Projekt im Rahmen von »Von hier aus Zukunft - Kulturland Brandenburg 2026/2027«.
KlangHaus Festival 2026

Final Concert - April 19, 18:00
For the closing of KlangHaus, we invite you to an expanded concert format - opening a space for reflection, attention, and shared presence.
Wojtek Blecharz
Concerto for Piano and Wireless Speakers
written for Rei Nakamura
Blecharz rethinks the relationship between performer, sound, and audience. The piano concerto becomes a spatial installation: Rei Nakamura, one of the leading pianists in contemporary music today, sits at the center, surrounded by listeners and a constellation of wireless speakers.
The composer shapes the initial setup - and then invites the audience to gently transform it. Sound, perspective, and proximity shift over time, opening new ways of listening and being in the space.

It's always nice to be back in Darmstadt, this time at the 79th conference organized by INMM - Institut für Neue Musik und Musikerziehung Darmstadt. Tonight @tamara.kurkiewicz will play "blacksnowfalls" for timpano solo and "K'an" and other great pieces, tomorrow I will play "Toccata" for vibrating and wireless speakers and on Saturday Monika Pasieczniki will give a lecture "Queering Musical Practices in the Works of Wojtek Blecharz;" <3
The final day of #MaerzMusik brought “I AM ALL EARS” to the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, transforming the entire building into a resonant, moving architecture of sound. Co-curated by @voytek_blehash , this edition opened stages, corridors, staircases, and backstage rooms to the audience, inviting them to wander, listen, and experience music beyond conventional formats. Across six hours, sound sculptures, live musicians, multidirectional listening sessions and more unfolded throughout the space.
As the festival came to a close, the last day gatheres many of the themes that shaped this year’s edition: expanded listening, porous architectures, collective attention, and new ways of being with sound. It offered a final shared moment of curiosity and openness. More than 150 artists were involved in the 10-day programme curated by @kamilametwaly which also included 16 world premieres.
Thank you to all artists, collaborators, teams, and audiences who shaped this year’s wonderful festival edition. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back to #MaerzMusik from 12–21 March 2027!

It is the second edition of FINALE, the photos are from the first one which happened last year same time same place ✨
The booklet is also ready for download on the Maerzmusikwebpage. Thank you, Irene Lehmann & @werkbegriff 🌺
