This particular book has sketches from my sketchbooks circa ~2013ish, when I had just graduated from college and moved to San Francisco to begin my art career. Drawings for paintings I made before i really understood how to use paint, paintings i showed at a hair salon as my first “solo show”. There are sketches from the streets of India and Cuba. Depictions of sleep paralysis that I started experiencing after my grandpa passed away. Depictions of grief and longing, people i loved. A full octopus my mom bought in Greece, which i drew obsessively, and that i carried frozen on an airplane to Bulgaria, and after she begged me to please throw away, i left on the hood of someone’s car because I thought it would be funny. Strange ephemera from my friends room in Australia. My little sister at a NASA Mars simulation camp. Sketches for early murals, before I had any clue what I was doing. Memories I hold dear and things that really make me cringe. Thank you for walking this path with me
