Some creatives don’t find the path, they build it.
Ivana Cajina, who goes by Von, is a New York-based photographer raised in Florida, with family roots in Nicaragua. She didn’t grow up seeing photography as a career that was made for her. She was raised with the familiar first-gen blueprint: go to school, get the stable job, follow the path that feels safe.
Then someone gave her a camera at 25, and everything shifted.
What started as late-night photos around Tampa became a career rooted in people, places, color, texture, and feeling. Today, Von’s work moves through portraiture, travel, fashion, lifestyle, and sport, always carrying pieces of her Nicaraguan roots and her own process of finding herself through the lens.
Her Adidas soccer-inspired project began as a personal idea and turned into something bigger: a visual story built by an all-Latino creative crew, shaped by collaboration, identity, and community.
For Von, the image is never just the image. It’s the people who show up. The stories that make us feel seen. The reminder that Latina creatives don’t have to do this alone, we can build each other up, make space for each other, and turn small ideas into something bigger.

Happy Earth Day 🌎. I stepped into the Everglades to understand what’s happening beneath the surface through research, because what we don’t see is what matters most. @von.co reached out to me to work on a project in the Everglades and this is what we were able to create. #researcher #scientist #everglades #stem
This project started so small and it kept growing until it became something much bigger than I ever expected. What moved me most was not only what we were making, but how many people believed in it while it was still taking shape. So talented people came together to help bring this to life, and that kind of support means everything to me. There is something powerful about people who do not just cheer you on, but step in and build with you.

At the heart of this work was a desire to hold more than one truth at once. To show identity as something lived. Something carried through movement, through presence and through personal expression. 

So much of what we make becomes deeper when it is held by other people too. When there is trust. When there is care. When everyone brings their own perspective and helps widen the story.
This one means a lot to me. Really grateful to everyone who helped give it life.
