Itās been one hell of a year. Iāve had the privilege of documenting a number of weddings from many different walks of life, all while growing and maturing as a photographer and as a creative. Itās been humbling to be able to learn from so many teachers, to draw knowledge from various disciplines, styles and workflows, and to incorporate them into my own work. Iāve made strides in developing my own voice and vision, all in the service of the couples I collaborate with. Hereās to another year of documenting love in 2025 š.

Each year I do a portfolio review where I pick out 50 of my best images to get an overview of what has changed and what has stayed the same in my approach to photography. It also grants me the opportunity to slow down and appreciate all the wonderful couples and weddings Iāve had the privilege to document this year. 2025 has afforded me with a myriad of opportunities, each with its own set of challenges that has pushed me to learn, experiment, and grow in my craft. Some days are easier than others, I still grapple with a level of imposterās syndrome each time I pick up the camera, always wondering if I have anything new to say with my photography. Yet the joy of creation overpowers it all. The magic of crafting something beautiful with each couple and the exhilaration of immortalising each scene that unfolds are what keep me going. Iām deeply grateful to everybody who entrusted their stories to me this year, who trusted in my vision, and whom Iāve had the pleasure of working with. Your kindness, trust, and openness means more than you know :)

Grey, white and blue.
Sarah and Diniyās first outfit of the day was grey, much like the hotel rooms they were in, preparing for their big day. Itās not everyday that you get to take āprep-shotsā at the Hilton. A welcome change of pace for sure, especially considering that our ceremony today takes place at the very familiar Casa Bayu.
White walls, a white ceiling, and a white stage make for clean and easy lighting. Some off-camera flash makes light work of the stage shots and shooting the 50mm f1.2 wide open produces lovely march-in photos. The energy is palpable and emotions are on full display making it easy to capture little moments between guests and relatives. It always humbles me how we as photographers are let into such intimate and raw moments in complete strangersā lives, and how weāre entrusted to ensnare these rare fleeting memories before they evaporate into the ether.
Speaking of the ether, our outdoor shoot featured some of the bluest of blue skies Iāve ever seen. Undeterred by the afternoon heat, our couple and their bridal party made full use of the Marina East Park. With outfits billowing in the wind and sun beaming on their faces, we knocked out pose after pose, activity after activity. Bridal party photos have never been easier. We also had a beautiful long veil to make use of, which in combination with the breeze, created some of my favourite shots of the day.
And of course I couldnāt resist busting out the prism for a reflection shot, somehow managing to incorporate a refracted image of the sun as a flare, adding an extra little point of interest to the image.

S + L. Sometimes, itās not about the ostentatious coupleās portraits. As a wedding photographer, artistic, creative shots of the couple have become somewhat of a calling card for me. Itās what I do best, and itās undoubtedly the work Iām most proud of. However, itās always good to be reminded that wedding coverage is much more than just fancy abstract photography. Sheryl and Liang Weiās wedding was one such reminder. Laced between the frenetic energy of the gatecrash games and the epic ballroom aisle marches were quieter moments: A conversation with a friend before the day begins, a groom waiting in his car to fetch his bride-to-be, a quick group photo during tea break. The understated scenes that slip by if youāre not paying close attention.

Long wedding days are my favourite. Every wedding is a journey, one which us photographers undertake together with the couple, from the crack of dawn till the end of the day. It is a profound privilege to be invited into some of the most private and emotional moments of what is ostensibly a stranger, and to walk with them through one of the most important days of their lives. H and Aās wedding, at 14 hours long, marks one of the longer weddings Iāve shot. Yet by the end of the day, I felt like I couldāve gone for hours more :). For @studiofiveweddings .
