@timothycgoodwin and I are obsessed with Twin Peaks. While working on Boeing Boeing together he said he wanted to do a Lynchean photo shoot and that he’d found just the spot. So at midnight on my birthday @timothycgoodwin took me to an abandoned gas station in Hailey, Idaho and in my peach tuxedo (it was opening night of the play) we played in the light. (I was trying to channel the woodsmen but I don’t think I got too close) sounds like the start of a murder plot but it was the perfect cherry on top to my timeline Idaho. Thanks Tim for making me a model!

i was raised on an art ranch in the middle of the rocky mountains, where my family was the community of artists, my neighbors, our friends. I was raised in galleries and glades of aspen trees. I had spaces to dance, and places to create, where everyone looked after each other and art was the center of everything.
raised to be an artist
raised to question norms
raised to create community
raised to care about this world
raised to be a freak
raised to dance
raised to love
yeah i was raised like that

25 years and a handful of months ago, @vmoonhill moved to the town I was growing up in. We were 13 and met doing a musical theater summer camp there.
At the end of one camp day, Veronica and I were each waiting for our respective parents under a pine tree when I found out that she would be attending my school in September.
“THAT’S FANTASTIC!” I proclaimed, loudly and enthusiastically. “I don’t have any friends. You can be my friend!”
From that day to this, this woman has been my best friend in the universe. My person. The witness to, endless late night analyzer of, and forever cheerleader of my life. And it has been the joy of my lifetime to be the same for her.
At our high school graduation, we sang “For Good” together and the lyrics of that song could not be truer. For 25 years (and counting) she has changed me and pushed me and showered me in unconditional love and I would not be the person I am today without her.
There is no official status or ceremony in our culture to honor such a person and such a relationship, so we decided to honor it ourselves.
In contemplating how to celebrate our 25 year best friendaversary, we discovered that we each had a long, since-childhood desire to go to Peru and see Machu Picchu. This must have been the only thing we had not talked about in these decades, but somehow, we had never known this about each other.
So, tomorrow, Veronica is joining me on the last leg of my trip and we are flying to Peru to trek to Machu Picchu.
There is not a word in the English language that covers the gratitude I feel for this being.
