A night on top of a mountain, alone watching the clouds and the stars and the city lights.
.
(Also, I don't understand Instagram? IG stripped the original audio, but it let me re-add the same song as music for the reel? Mystery!)
caught a moment of spontaneous sunset fire bending at @ggby_fest
Honestly I’ve been in a shitty mood lately-cranky, critical, uncreative. Daily, I come to my altar, calling in guidance, asking: “what’s underneath of this?”
What feelings need to be felt? What kinks and knots need to be wiggled out? Is the whole point, right now, to feel the disappointment and discontent? How long must this last??? Can’t I just feel it fully, and let it go?
Maybe.
And what I can do, simultaneously, is really notice the moments of joy. The moments I feel love. Lean into these moments, breathe them in, allow them to expand.
Looking back at these fabulous photos (thank you @visualslips !!) I feel the joy of this sunset fire spinning. I remember the women who bent fire with me, as the sunset bent the horizon with fire across the canyon. I feel the love and connection of sisterhood from this evening as I admire these photos.
So, I continue my assignment: feel it all. As fully as I can. Then ask, can I feel this deeper?

@ggby_fest is my favorite festival and my favorite place! I love my life so much! Grateful for everything and every opportunity that I have.

Informational video: How to safely roll across highlines without a leash!
Rolling across highlines with just a personal anchor system (PAS) doesn’t seem to be as common these days, but it can still be an important skill.
Huge caveat to this video: if you can, always use a leash when accessing a highline! Do everything you can to make sure leashes are available for all people who may have to roll across (such as after rigging or to do a rescue).
Key Takeaways:
- Always have at least one secure (locked) point when on a highline. This means please stop unclipping your PAS to pass a connection if your only other point is a non-locking roller!
- Auto-locking carabiners > screw gate carabiners
- 2 PAS are better than 1!
- It is best practice to have your attachment points opposite and opposing (both upright with gates facing opposite directions), and especially important if they are screw gates and not auto-lockers
- Rollex’s and Hangovers are EN 12275 certified (like life-supporting carabiners) and BC Rollers are not, with a specific warning on the website that they are not certified as PPE (although they have a similar MBS, so use your own judgement)
- In this video when I am showing what NOT to do, please note that I have a second PAS clipped to the anchor
Thank you so much to @visualslips for collaborating on these videos! And to the local highliners who are letting me take a few hours on their permarigs to film. We’re having a ton of fun doing them, if you have any other topics you’d like to see us cover, drop them in the comments!
What an exceptional sport. It creates a special kind of human, or rather special humans are often attracted to it.
People often ask me if I do it because I love adrenaline, and that’s not really the thing for me. It’s actually more about finding a deep sense of calm and peace in moments that feel so stressful. It reminds me that I always have access to this peace, even when my fear or anxiety is screaming at me the loudest. It took me so long to actually walk on a Highline because I didn’t know how to find that quiet. I always ran away and got off the line or just only sat at the anchor for so many years. I could not face that voice telling me I wasn’t good enough or that it was too scary.
It feels so fucking cool. To be able to maneuver your body so controlled and meticulously that you are able to do something that looks impossible. And knowing that when you see someone standing and walking on that line that you KNOW that this person has overcome that barrier of not thinking they can do it. They KNOW they can. No one is standing on that line thinking they can’t do it. And no one standing on that line has skipped any steps in the long and transformative journey that it takes to get there.
It’s somatic lessons re-wiring your brain. Changing the literally lines that connect our experiences and memories. Lines of these debilitating thoughts we have been brainwashed into thinking are true. It allows you to re-write those words of encouragement that your parents never gave you. It offers and allows you to dig into your mind and be that supportive role you always needed.

Last few weeks made me question a lot of things; my decisions now, and my past failures. Or maybe lessons and progress?
Someone recently said it's all about editing, so I figured I should try out both sides of the coin.
