EpisodeXXI: On what should be and what is
There is often a quiet ache in the space between expectation and reality. We build visions in our minds of how life should unfold, how certain moments should look, how certain seasons should feel, only to discover that life rarely asks for our permission before it becomes itself.
And perhaps that is not a tragedy, but a lesson.
A few days ago, I came across a line that stayed with me: the earth is littered with the ruins of empires that thought themselves immortal. It reminded me that even the strongest plans, the loudest certainties, and the most carefully built assumptions can crumble. Not everything that was meant to last will last. Not everything that was supposed to happen will happen. And not everything that falls apart is a loss.
Sometimes, what we call disappointment is simply life refusing to be reduced to our expectations. Sometimes, what looks like delay is only direction. Sometimes, what feels like a detour is actually the path. And sometimes, the beauty of a season is not found in how closely it matches our imagination, but in how fully it teaches us to be present.
So here I am, not clinging to what should have been, but learning to honor what is. Learning that peace does not always come from control; sometimes it comes from surrender. Learning that hope is still possible, even when life arrives differently than expected.
Maybe that is the real wisdom: to keep dreaming, but to stop worshipping the dream. To keep hoping, but to stay human. To keep growing, while allowing life to surprise us.
What is, after all, may be quieter than what we imagined. But it is real. And sometimes, real is enough.
