Thank you Lincoln University, the nation’s oldest degree granting hbcu for allowing me to continue an over 100 year family legacy.

On May 15th, 2026 I became a two time first generation graduate from Delaware State University. I knew I would do it I just didn’t know how the journey would look. Through all my trials and tribulations, I would still do it all over again and wouldn’t change a single thing.
To my family, I often said you guys didn’t understand what I was going through or you weren’t dealing with the same problems. Now that I am at the end, I realized you all have been with and carried me through these years and I can never pen how much you all mean to me. You went through this journey with me and you too deserve it all.
To my DSU family, to all the people I have crossed paths with, you each have impacted my life in ways you will never know. I thought I knew myself before I came here but I had so much to learn, thank you for that. Thank you for welcoming me and giving me all the things I didn’t know I needed.
To my younger self, the world is yours go get it, but all in God’s timing.

This chapter taught me growth, resilience, & the importance of trusting God’s timing through it all. Every lesson, setback, & accomplishment shaped me into the woman I prayed to become, & for that I’ll always be thankful. Some of the most meaningful growth happens quietly, and over the last three years, Howard Sports Medicine has changed me in ways I never expected. Working as a student aide became more than just a position to me; it became a place that challenged me, shaped me, and helped me grow into myself.
The Howard University Sports Medicine Society’s first year on campus was my freshman year, and serving as president during my senior year was truly one of the greatest honors of my time at Howard. Being able to help create a space where students could find community, mentorship, support, and family is something I will always be proud of. Watching our organization grow and connecting with so many passionate, hardworking people made this journey even more special.
Thank you to my peers, mentors, and athletic trainers for investing in my growth over the past three years. Your guidance and support helped shape who I am becoming, and I am forever grateful for the lessons and family I found here.
