Just got off the phone with my dad. He asked about this piece. He said Jamaal I wanted to ask you about your art piece, I saw it on social media. I said which one? He said the one that looks like King TUT with half a birds face. What does it mean to you, what made you paint that. I said oh dad that’s a tribute to your daughter my sister. As I went on to explain to him what the green face of the Pharaoh meant and what the fiery pink falcon stood for. How I saw it as a transitioning phase of his daughter my sister to the next phase. From earthly realm to the next. #He said really, wow Jamaal!!! I could feel his face light up through the phone. After explaining a little further and with detail the dynamics of the piece. I couldn’t help but feel a release almost a weight lifted off my chest. I can honestly say I think a weight was lifted off his chest as well. Discussing the art and how it represented my sister.
This was the first conversation I had with my dad since the memorial of my sister. My dad was always proud of all his kids, my sister and my brothers. He reassured me that he was proud of us and how we turned out. Then he asked me some questions about ancient Egypt, about the pyramids , the Bible and outer space. One thing I feel my dad always prepared me for was change. Change in the weather, change in the seasons, and most importantly changes in life. And that only through pain comes great change. When you lose someone close I believe they would want you to come out a better stronger person. That’s what I learned from my sister and that is what my dad taught us….
I love you sis,
Peace&Love

The making of “Emerald Pharaohs & Ruby Falcons”
The concept of an “emerald pharaoh” evokes images of ancient Egyptian royalty adorned with exquisite emeralds, symbolizing wealth, power, and vitality.
This pharaoh might be depicted wearing a magnificent headdress encrusted with emeralds, surrounded by opulent golden artifacts and hieroglyphics that tell tales of their reign. The emeralds could also represent the lushness of the Nile Valley and the connection to the afterlife, as green is often associated with rebirth and regeneration in Egyptian mythology.
The “ruby falcons” conjures images of regal grandeur, where a powerful ruler is adorned with striking ruby jewelry, symbolizing passion, courage, and vitality.
This pharaoh might wear a lavish crown embedded with sparkling rubies, reflecting the fiery hues of the desert sun. Their robes could be richly embroidered, blending deep reds and golds, emphasizing their status and divine right to rule.
In ancient Egyptian culture, rubies were believed to hold protective qualities, making this pharaoh not just a leader but also a guardian of their people. Imagery of the ruby pharaoh could feature elaborate temples, sacred rituals, and a majestic throne room filled with treasures that signify both earthly power and spiritual significance.
This piece is also an ode to my sister that recently passed. A celebration of herself and her transition to the afterlife, and my personal growth. A visual acknowledge that represents freedom, love, and happiness. Accepting that she is now free from the pain she was feeling. Spreading and earning of her wings like that of a falcon flying high and free. This is my way of visually saying Peace and goodbye for now to my beautiful sister who passed from MS.
Love you Sis 💚🩷
