Wrapped an incredible hand building workshop @aavartan.auroville . Picked up some stellar techniques, met some cool folks and created some pieces that went up in flames 🔥🫠🔥

Terralume
Introducing my first functional design piece—an exploration of form, material, and process. This lamp combines the earthy warmth of terracotta, the elegance of raw silk, and the timelessness of brass.
With a terracotta base that complements the warm light, the lamp features a ribbed, dome-shaped lampshade supported by a brass pipe. The shade gently diffuses light, highlighting the natural fibers of the raw silk while casting a cozy glow.
Now open to custom orders.

Learning things the hard way.
Pit firing has to be a sure shot way to multiply uncertainty. This being the first, I wanted to see what would happen if I dug a pit, filled it with pots and lit it on fire.
Ok so it wasn't a leap of faith 😝 Greatful for @ancientpottery 's breakdown on how to pit fire greenware.
Although nothing truly survived, the firing was enough to hit the required temperature, atleast I think it did as the pots sound like they have been cooked. Most pieces cracked completely and the ones still standing are damaged in ways which make them unusable but the charred terracotta looks so good!
I'm very excited about the next one. Let me know if there is anything you can see that will help me improve my process.
