New moments with some old history!
Still buzzing over the aurora this past weekend and I love seeing everybody’s creative compositions. It really opened some doors with the focus being towards the north and not always looking south for the core of the Milky Way. Both are great but, it was good to change it up and get the excitement flowing.
Image one
is a resolution stacked composite. With three lights illuminating the wagon to show depth without shadowing and reducing the use of high Iso. The sky… speaks for itself only using a wide angle f1.8 I was able to achieve great light production with minimal star trails.
Image two Is a single exposure with some help of a friend to light paint the school house. The school house resolution is a bit soft due to the single exposure low light but allowing the natural beauty of the sky to really pop.

1888 school house, Carbondale Co. last night was a check off my bucket list. I always dreamed of seeing the Aurora Borealis and never would have of thought to see them so vivid in my backyard.

The Dark… isn’t so dark.
This is a tracked, stacked, composite shot last fall. The foreground was shot at twilight and the Milky Way is a tracked vertical panorama after dark(insta cuts the top off). The exact lineup of the Milky Way over Sopris is slightly off due to the multiple exposure and tracking times. The Milky Way is convenient to shoot in the fall due to the early rise in the galactic core and not having to be up at 2 am like in the spring but shooting in the fall can become quite challenging because of the brief timeframe to shoot before the sunset and the core disappearing behind the horizon. Hope you like it!
