Get ready for a big weekend in the Vale of Glamorgan! 🎉
Things kick off on Saturday 16 May at Barry Island with @gwylfachyfro a free celebration of the Welsh language packed with live music from top artists, performances from local schools, plus plenty of food and craft stalls to explore. The festival continues into Sunday, bringing even more music alongside the excitement of race day.
On Sunday 17 May, the much-loved Barry Island 10K returns. This sold-out race offers a stunning backdrop of sun, sand, and sea, along with a lively event village, toddler dash, and family fun run—perfect for runners and supporters alike. Please note that road closures will be in place during the event. 🏃🏃♀️
Running across the whole weekend, head to the Barry Memo for Barry Card and Collector Con. Expect two days of special guests from film and TV, alongside collectibles, memorabilia, and plenty of unique finds.

From today- May 1st, some beaches in the Vale of Glamorgan have the annual dog ban in place, but don’t worry! There are still plenty of dog-friendly beaches nearby for our furry friends to enjoy some fun in the sun!

50 diwrnod i fynd - Taith Baton y Brenin yng Nghymru.
The King’s Baton Relay will officially kick off its Welsh journey on the 19th of June on Barry Island - Gwen the mascot enjoyed her first trip to Ynys Y Barri!
The Relay will travel across communities throughout Wales from 19–24 June, building excitement and support ahead of Glasgow 2026.
