In honor of National Travel & Tourism Month, we thought we’d share a little bit about the folks behind Visit San Marcos.
Meet Sarah! Sarah manages the Visit San Marcos social media accounts, writes the Like A Local blog posts, works with filming projects in the City, and helps out with other creative projects and copywriting. When she’s not staring at her phone and reading social media captions for the thousandth time, you can find her: reading a book in a shallow section of the river (slathered in sunscreen, of course), enjoying a craft beer at a local brewery, baking something yummy, or knitting while a period drama plays in the background.
More than 13,000 years of history, and San Marcos still has stories to tell! @wittliff.collections , @calaboosemuseum , and the @lbjmuseumsmtx are just a few of the cultural and historical must-stops waiting for you in San Marcos - and there's still plenty more to uncover. Hit the link in our bio and start exploring.

Meet Denise! Denise helps make San Marcos a meeting, events, and conference paradise. She works with meeting planners and event organizers to make sure their event goes off smoothly, and their group has a wonderful SMTXperience. When she’s not keeping the Visit San Marcos team in line, you can find Denise cheering on her kids at their sporting events, fishing with her husband, or enjoying a cold margarita and queso at one of San Marcos’ favorite Tex-Mex spots.
Brunch lovers and breakfast champs, this one’s for you! San Marcos is stacked with spots serving up syrupy stacks, chilaquiles that slap, beignets worth fighting over, and mimosas in every flavor under the sun.
Whether you’re team sweet, savory, or just here for the drinks, we’ve rounded up the best brunch spots in town at the link in our bio. Bring your appetite and stretchy pants.
Got a fave brunch spot? Drop it in the comments!

Meet Steve! Steve makes sure groups have a great time exploring San Marcos, provides much of the photography used in our marketing materials, and runs the @listensanmarcos account, promoting the San Marcos music community in partnership with the Texas Music Office and their Music Friendly Communities program. In his time off, he enjoys all things photography related, making music with his band, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his fiancé and three cats.
One minute you're floating, the next your shoes are gone. 😬 Keep your footwear secure (and no, sports mode doesn't count - looking at you, Croc wearers). The river isn't a lost and found. Accidents are still litter - do better and keep San Marcos, well, beautiful!
Did you know you can make your own soap in @downtownsmtx ? 🧼 We spent an afternoon with the team at @dssoapco learning the craft - plant-based ingredients, sustainable sourcing, custom scents, and yes, soap confetti. Good, 🫧clean🫧 fun? Absolutely! Read the full recap at the link in our bio.

Treat the moms in your life to brunch, cocktails, a little retail therapy, and maybe even an outdoor adventure this Mother's Day weekend. She deserves the whole experience - not just a card. Plan it all at the link in our bio. (For the record, you should probably give her a card, flowers, AND a San Marcos adventure. She deserves it. 😌)
Some people find hospitality; Cody Taylor was born into it. From bussing tables at 13 in Goliad to building some of San Marcos' most beloved dining spots, his people-first philosophy has shaped every space he's touched.
After graduating from Texas State University, Cody set his sights on San Marcos, and he's never looked back. He lovingly revived @valentinossmtx in 2022, honoring a classic while welcoming new generations, and in 2025, he made sure another local institution, @grinsrestaurantsmtx , would keep its doors open and its legacy intact.
Cody doesn't just run restaurants. He preserves the places that make San Marcos feel like home. That's why he's our 2026 Rogers Family Tourism Award winner.
