The Crossroads is where Kansas City comes to life.
What started as old warehouse and rail space is now one of the most walkable, creative parts of the city. You’ve got galleries and murals on every block, local spots that actually feel local, live music, rooftop views, and the streetcar running right through it all. First Fridays bring the crowds, but even on a normal night there’s a steady energy—people out, lights on, something always happening.
It’s easy to get to, easy to explore, and hard to leave once you’re in it.
If you want to feel Kansas City—not just see it—this is where you start.

So many neighborhoods in KC to love, but the one my lens gravitates towards most is the West Bottoms. It shines in the warmer months. Late night music, early morning matcha, vintage cars, antique shopping, smash burgers, fire pits, local wine, ice cold cocktails, sweet heat bbq, and some of our city’s most historic architecture. There’s something for everyone here and it’s where I’ll be pointing visitors to this summer, for sure!
At its core, omakase means “I leave it up to you,” and @akoya_omakase brings this experience to downtown Kansas City!
Rooted in Japanese culinary tradition, omakase invites guest to step back and let the chef lead. Every course thoughtfully crafted based on seasonality and technique. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience for any foodie!
