You’ve heard of Halland, right? Most people have. Most people say they’ve “been”. But Halland isn’t just one place. It’s six destinations, stretched along Sweden’s west coast between Gothenburg and Malmö. One is winter swims and hot saunas. One is deep forests and trails where you barely meet a soul. One is long beach days and dinners that turn into late nights. And yes, we have restaurants earning Michelin stars. Local produce grown in soil fed by seaweed and salt air. Waves you can actually surf. And a ridge with what might be some of Sweden’s best flow trails. Six destinations. All within about an hour of each other. So if you’re new here, this is your starting point. And if you’ve been before, maybe you’ve only met one version. @visitlaholm @destinationhalmstad @fbg_falkenberg @visitvarberg @visithylte @visitkungsbacka

Halland is a coastal region and sits on Swedens west coast, between Gothenburg and Copenhagen. Easy to access wherever you travel in from AND most importantly, easy to feel at home in. Here, forests meet long (really long) beaches. You can walk and hike, bike, swim or just pause for a while. We can honestly say you eat really good food here. Often from local ingredients, often Michelin-listed. Halland is well-organised and typically Swedish. But Halland is also calm, raw, open and a little wild (we love that wilderness). A place for first-time visitors. And for those who value nature, quality and space to slow down. So yes, consider this your official invitation to maybe the best part of Sweden 🇸🇪 .

There’s more than one way to get to Halland 🇸🇪. By train. By car. By bike. On foot. By boat. And soon - by tunnel. However you travel, we believe the journey is part of the experience. We are super excited about the tunnel (last slide)❤.

Fika is one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions. Part coffee break, part social ritual, part small escape from everyday life. The word “fika” comes from the old Swedish word for coffee, “kaffi”. Today, fika can happen almost anywhere. At work, in a café, by the sea, in the forest or at home under a blanket while the rain hits the window. This is your small guide to fika life on Sweden’s west coast. Here in Halland, we take fika seriously. Got a favourite fika spot in Halland? Some places make people return year after year. Prince Bertil Gustaf Oscar Carl Eugen, Duke of Halland and uncle of Sweden’s current king, spent many summers along the coast of Halland. He even had a summer house in Tylösand, Close to the trail that carries his name: Prins Bertils stig. Today, the 18 km coastal trail winds through rocky shores, hidden beaches, sea views and quiet paths between Halmstad Castle and Tylösand. A walk shaped by salt air, evening light and the Swedish west coast at its best. Is it your turn now? 🤍 Photos: Joakim Lindström, Jessica Clarén, Markku Lepola

In Sweden, we welcome spring with fire. 🔥 On April 30 (Walpurgis Night), bonfires light up the coast, parks and small towns across Halland. Once, they were meant to keep away spirits. Today, people gather by the shore, singing as spring returns. Imagine cycling by the sea. Salt in the air, seagulls above, the scent of the coast in the wind. Next stop is a beach a local told you about. Tonight, you’re staying in a small fishing village, hoping to catch the sunset from the little harbour. Kattegattleden stretches between Gothenburg and Helsingborg, through small towns, beaches and open landscapes on Sweden’s west coast, right through Halland. Save this for the Sweden trip you dream about and plan your route at kattegattleden.se. ❤️

Some islands are easy to miss. Until you’re out there among them. Tira öar lie in Lake Bolmen, in Hylte, Halland on Sweden’s west coast. Forested islands, quiet bays and narrow passages. You reach them by boat or canoe. Find your own place to land. Fish, swim, or just sit by the water for a while. Nearby, @tiraholm serves local catch from the lake. @knystaforsen offers food by the river, just a short drive away. @visithylte Photos: Eva Tram, Jens Oredsson / Hallands Matgille

Not all islands belong to the coast. Some are hidden further inland. Hjörneredssjöarna lies just outside Laholm, in Halland on Sweden’s west coast. A landscape of lakes and small islands, spread out across still water. You move between them. You find your own place to pause. And time slows down. @visitlaholm Photos: Jonathan Strömberg, Jessica Clarén, L.& M. Lackas / HOUSE of MANAO
