🇳🇱 Waarom Haarlem pas op 8 mei werd bevrijd
Hoewel Nederland op 5 mei 1945 officieel werd bevrijd, duurde het voor Haarlem nog drie spannende dagen. Pas op 8 mei trokken de Canadese troepen de stad binnen. De capitulatie was dan wel getekend, maar de geallieerden moesten nog steeds stad voor stad fysiek bevrijden. Haarlem kwam simpelweg later aan de beurt. Tot die tijd wachtten de inwoners in spanning af, terwijl Duitse soldaten zich nog in de stad bevonden.
🇬🇧 Why Haarlem Wasn't Liberated Until May 8
Although the Netherlands was officially liberated on May 5, 1945, it took three more tense days for Haarlem. It wasn’t until May 8 that Canadian troops entered the city. Even though the surrender had been signed, the Allies still had to physically liberate each city, one by one. Haarlem simply came later in the process. Until then, residents waited anxiously, while German soldiers were still present in the city.

🇳🇱 De Leyduin is een prachtig duingebied waar natuur en rust samenkomen 🌳 Dit gebied maakt deel uit van Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland en staat bekend om zijn afwisselende landschap met bossen, open duinen en rijke biodiversiteit. Hier kun je onder andere damherten, vossen en talloze vogelsoorten tegenkomen.
🇬🇧 Leyduin is a beautiful dune area where nature and tranquility come together 🌳 This area is part of South Kennemerland National Park and is known for its varied landscape of forests, open dunes, and rich biodiversity. Here you can encounter deer, foxes, and numerous bird species.
🇳🇱Zaterdagavond en zondag kon er op de Gedempte Oude Gracht worden nagenoten van de praalwagens van Bloemencorso 🌷
We kijken nu al uit naar volgend jaar.
