I went into this hike with very little expectations and walked away completely blown away.
And if you’re hiking after rain… be prepared 👀 At one point we were wading through waist-deep water, but it made it so much more memorable.
If you’re heading to Central Australia, this one NEEDS to be on your list. It’s the perfect mix of challenge and reward, with insane views the entire way.

📍 Chain of Ponds Walk, Northern Territory
1hr drive from Alice Springs
Trail Head:John Hayes Rockhole Campground (4WD access only)
Distance: 3.5 km loop
Time: 1.5 hours
Grade: Moderate
Best time: Early morning (trust me on this 😅)
💡 Tips:
– Start early to beat the heat
– Bring plenty of water (2–3L minimum)
– Wear good grip shoes (some rocky sections)
This is easily one of the best day hikes in the Red Centre—and still so underrated.

I’m not particularly spiritual, but there’s something very special about this place.
The colours, the textures, the ancient landscapes and cultures - you can feel it.

These types of shoots are always full throttle. The itineraries are packed full of awesome activities and you’re carrying gear over mountains, through rivers, all in the desert heat. No big setups, no endless takes. Just staying agile, making it work and trying not to get too distracted by the landscapes.
Genuinely some of the prettiest places I’ve been and very grateful to be able to experience it with such a bunch of legends.
It takes a special crew to pull these campaigns off. Lucky we had one 🫶

Creature feature: under the roots of a Mulga tree you may find a special treat, the Honeyant. Digging out this desert delicacy takes an effort as the nests may extend to even 2 metres beneath the surface.
