In the Fields by vision string quartet is out now!
With their ACT debut and first recording in five years, the quartet returns with a project that reimagines the string quartet as a living, breathing band. Rooted in classical chamber music and driven by fearless flexibility, In the Fields unfolds as a journey where folk energy, dance rhythms, and classical depth come together.
Inspired by the dramatic arc of Bartók’s Fourth String Quartet, the album weaves movements by Bartók, Ravel, and Dvořák with new music born out of collaboration and traditional folk material, shaped through close artistic exchange among Joel Lyssarides, Mahan Mirarab and Bernhard Schimpelsberger. The result moves seamlessly between tradition and innovation, sounding timeless yet full of fresh energy.

After five wonderful years, our beloved first violinist Florian is returning to his roots in the Bavarian Forest. We’re so grateful for the music, the adventures, and the way he pushed every boundary with us. Florian, you’ll always be part of our creative team, even from afar. Wishing you all the best for your next musical journey!
And now, the exciting news: Since we’ve actually known for quite some time that Florian’s path and ours would eventually diverge again, and over the past few months we’ve already been playing with the amazing Adam Koch from Denmark - who will become our official new first violinist. Adam brings not only extraordinary talent, but also a fresh, Nordic energy that we can’t wait to share with you -blonde, yes, but curly and other than that, a perfect fit.
Florian will still join us for a few more concerts, including our residency at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf—so you’ll have a chance to say goodbye and hello! 🙋‍♂️
Here’s to new sounds, new stories, and the next thrilling chapter. Skål!

Supernova mit dem vision string quartet und Joel Lyssarides (Klavier)! Ein paar Impressionen vom Konzert unserer Artists in Residence gemeinsam mit Jazz Pianist Joel Lyssarides! Das Quartett hatte Werke aus den Programmen »Spectrum« und »In the Fields« mitgebracht. Die Kompositionen zeigten eine coole Mischung verschiedener Musikstile zwischen Folk und Jazz, auch inspiriert vom klassischen Repertoir, zum Teil entstanden durch Improvisation. Einfach ein wahnsinnig schöner Abend! Supernova with the vision string quartet and Joel Lyssarides (piano)! A few impressions from the concert by our Artists in Residence together with jazz pianist Joel Lyssarides! The quartet performed pieces from their programs “Spectrum” and “In the Fields.” The compositions showcased a cool mix of different musical styles between folk and jazz, also inspired by the classical repertoire, partly created through improvisation. Simply an incredibly beautiful evening!
