✨Last month, Visions was proud to participate in the inaugural inSTEAM event hosted by the @womenchangemakersfund of Kawartha Lakes and @amperecanada in Lindsay, Ontario. Bringing together girls and non-binary students in Grades 10–12, the day was full of hands-on STEAM learning, interactive workshops, and conversations with women leaders across STEM and creative industries. Special thanks to Rachel Mpofu, Evaluation & Impact Analyst at @visionsofscience , for representing the team as a panelist and sharing her journey in STEM. ✨ Thanks to @mlselaunchpad and the Toronto @mapleleafs , youth had an unforgettable afternoon engaging in Sport & STEM challenges, from ‘coding slapshots’ to scrimmage with the Toronto Maple Leaf players. Filled with hands-on learning, one highlight of the day challenged youth to write hyper-specific instructions to a “robot hockey player” in order to get them to perform a slapshot. Last week, Visions was honoured to share “Building Belonging in STEM” at #CASC2026 with the @ontariosciencecentre and @telus_spark . Our presentation highlighted how @visionsofscience builds long-term, community-rooted pathways so Black and racialized youth can see themselves in STEM, and how our partners are centering belonging, joy and representation in their programs. Big hoops and bigger chemistry! 🧪🏀 Visions had an incredible time popping up at the @layup_basketball 3x3 House League Championship in Scarborough! While the youth were locked in on the court, we were locked in at the lab station exploring the science of 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. In between games, youth traded in their playbooks for glue, baking soda, and contact solution to whip up some custom championship slime. They also took their chance at the Wheel of STEM for some STEM trivia fun. Whether it’s perfecting a jump shot or mastering a chemical reaction, it’s all about the 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆! 🧪✨ Shoutout to the 120+ athletes who showed us that STEM and sport are the ultimate teammates. #YouthInSTEM #STEMInSports #SportsScience #Chemistry #Basketball

Last week, Visions visited 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 for a co-facilitation session that challenges students with a real-world problem: step into the shoes of an engineer and design a drone carrier to safely deliver essential goods to remote communities. Students explored and experimented, building their carriers using everyday materials like balloons, elastic bands, and popsicle sticks. Their crucial cargo: an ‘egg’! Through multiple tests, they applied concepts like gravity and 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 to reflect and improve their designs. Afterwards, students shared how 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺, and 𝗮𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 influenced their design process and final product.
