Grand Rapids – please join us at Vision House on March 28th for blossom forecast, a quiet evening of sitting and listening.
Opening the night is ahn, a Redux host who works at the mercy of time and place. Taking a small, intensely felt moment and unfolding it into a narrative driven composition, ahn’s work as a DJ pulls the listener into their field of memories.
Next is k of plusplus, who as a producer coolly puts out extended experimental compositions that are constantly shifting and evolving. Whether it’s heavily manipulated samples or entire tracks, with seemingly no bounds, k maintains the utmost control of whatever audio is placed in front of her.
Third on the bill is Ness of Crystal Trench, whose experience as a multidisciplinary artist has also taught them how to be a versatile musician. This versatility has led them to utilizing different sound-making mediums, taking form in tape, sampling, and synthesizers.
Closing us out is Ben Weissenborn of Nonplussed Radio. Born from a Covid-era desire to share and connect with others, Ben uses his bedroom radio show to share a sort of music diary, selections that are personal and close to the heart. The main inspiration for this event in both sound and concept was his set with Redux at Backwards Compatible back in December. Alex Perez will be performing visuals using manipulated video and live projections.
We will outfit the floor of the venue with rugs to sit on. Bringing your own cushion or pillow for your comfort is welcome and encouraged. $15 at the door, cash and venmo accepted. The space is small - to guarantee a spot, arrive on time. Doors will open at 6:30.
