Introducing
Dr. Austin Fournier
Optometrist
Originally from the mountain town of Grande Cache, Alberta, Dr. Austin Fournier moved to the Okanagan after high school to play junior hockey in the KIJHL with the North Okanagan team. After two years on the ice, he shifted his focus to academics, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbiaâs Okanagan campus.
Inspired by a passion for health care and helping others, Dr. Fournier went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the renowned Southern California College of Optometry, graduating with honors. His clinical training provided him with a broad range of experience, serving patients from all walks of life in diverse settings across California. He provided care at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, and community clinics in underserved areas of downtown Los Angeles. His work included caring for seniors, war veterans, non-English-speaking patients, and children with complex visual needs and comorbid developmental disabilities.
Dr. Fournier has a special interest in managing ocular diseases, myopia control, and fitting specialty contact lenses. His clinical approach is grounded in the latest research and technologies, with a commitment to personalized, compassionate care.
Now back in the Okanagan with his wife, Alexa, Dr. Fournier is excited to be part of the Visionfirst Optometry team. He is passionate about building strong, lasting relationships with his patients and providing personalized, high-quality eye care to the community he proudly calls home.
