Trans “visibility” comes with a lot of risk, especially for trans women and especially BIPOC trans women. A bill passed in Idaho last week that creates a pathway to life in prison just for using the bathroom while trans. In Kansas they passed a bounty-hunting bathroom bill and one that invalidated trans people’s drivers licenses overnight. Trans people in federal prisons are being forcibly detransitioned. Vile legislation and political attacks like these have been escalating for years and are accelerating at an alarming rate. The Lemkin Institute has now raised multiple red flags about the genocide against trans people in this country. Trans people need more than visibility we need liberation, and actual solidarity/material support. Showing up to draw/tipping the model/donating to our group are just a few ways you can support folks directly!
