#ieeevis #visap2025 #dataart
In just two days, the VISAP 2025 exhibition opens!
📍 November 6, 2025 — 6PM, Atrium, University of Applied Arts Vienna
Collective Care brings together projects that explore how data design can become an act of collective care — a practice that not only represents but also protects, respects, and nurtures the environments and communities from which data emerge.
The artworks on display question the relationship between technology, culture, and care, proposing new forms of visual storytelling that are both poetic and political.

#VISAP2025 #IEEEVIS #DataArt #DataVisualization #CollectiveCare"
The VIS Arts Program (VISAP), the largest affiliated event of the IEEE VIS conference, is back! This unique exhibition brings together visualization researchers, designers, and artists to explore the powerful intersections of data, art, and design.
Collective Care is the theme of VISAP’25. In an age shaped by algorithmic systems, how can visualization be an act of responsibility, empathy, and healing? The conference invites works that embody reciprocity, solidarity, and ethical collaboration, challenging data practices and visual methodologies rooted in care.
We welcome all media: interactive visualizations, 3D printed works, AR/VR, sound, video, writing, digital fabrication, and more. Accepted works will be published on the VISAP website and in the exhibition catalog. Select papers and pictorials will be indexed in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
VISAP’25 will be held at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Nov 6–15), alongside IEEE VIS at the Austria Center Vienna (Nov 2–7).

Transferscope — Synthesized Reality: Sample anything. Transform everything.
Author: Christopher Pietsch
Transferscope is an interactive installation that lets users explore and reflect the implications of generative artificial intelligence on our perception of the physical world. The handheld device allows users to sample materials and concepts and aesthetics and seamlessly project and apply them onto any object or scene, thereby creating imaginative and unique visual experiences. The artifact offers a unique perspective on the role of data in artistic creation, and invites visitors to critically reflect the aesthetic character of state-of-the-art image generation algorithms, emphasizing the importance of diversity in data sources (to train the models) and outputs. It demonstrates how AI can serve as a collaborator in the artistic process, enhancing human creativity while making tangible new insights into the nature of visual data. This installation facilitates also reflecting on the ethical and cultural implications of data set curation for the aesthetic characteristics of current generative AI models.
