Two days ago, Oscar-nominated (On Body and Soul, 2018) Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi was in town, and I was lucky enough to have a brief conversation with her after the screening of her beautiful new film, Silent Friend.
Ildikó has a very unique directorial language—almost meditative and lyrical, rich in symbolic elements—and she deeply explores the human soul and existence. The Silent Friend was a multi-award winner film on Venice Film Festival 2025. @enyediildiko #silentfri

Today I look back on those days with extraordinary dancers and hundreds of students, creating again and again—in cold, unforgiving studios, through physical pain and the quiet weight of what we carried inside—and still we continued, shaping movement from our bodies and our souls; we were excited, we were exhausted, we were in euphoria. And yet this is the fragile truth of it: dance fades, it is born once on stage and then disappears, leaving behind only fragments—a photograph, a few seconds of video, echoes of something that once lived fully. And still, we have to do it.
