Damn, this one felt like food for the soul. It was the morning of March 10th with ice, snow, and low temps back home in Minnesota. This was my attempt at bringing some much needed warmth and sunshine in…a call for spring, so to speak. 🌞

This little ditty is a pure example of so many ingredients and influences of dance put through the subjective blender that is me. When I’m able to tap into roots of musical theater, jazz, hip hop, tap, etc. and find a synergy, it feels like I’m expressing the truest version of myself as a mover. How grateful and fortunate I am to have had so many teachers, educators, and exposures to so many different disciplines and styles.

This one’s for you, Mom. Without you and your treasure chest of CD’s, my love and appreciation for music wouldn’t be as deep and rich as it is today. Without you, I may have never found dance ie. the ultimate expression of one’s love for music. Music + Dance has given me sustenance of the soul since as long as I can remember. You know what’s bittersweet about being their parent? Reflecting on another milestone of your first born growing up. The simmer of concern always present, knowing they are out on the road, unavoidably in harms way. Or…most importantly, reflecting on the countless rides and hours spent together in the car. An in motion conversational confessional, where we laughed, cried, introduced each other to new music, and found our way to wide ranging places in words and thoughts.

Oh, how I will miss these sessions on a consistent basis. But you’ve earned the privilege of being a licensed driver with a set of wheels, my son. I’m proud of you and love you more than you’ll ever know.

As of August 14th, the mission known as Apollo Poole has completed 6 successful orbits around our local star 💫

This completion brings about a monumental new phase in his earthly voyage: First day of Kindergarten! 🤓

The ranking officers aboard this little boy’s life couldn’t love him anymore than we already do. A builder, a mover, a shaker, an imagination maker. The legions of plastic army men salute their General as he embarks on this new voyage, with a sworn duty to protect his house and family until he returns each day to play.

First full orbit complete for this angelic little girl. Bearing witness to the miracle that was her birth into the blossoming of her existence in this first year has been transformational as a man and Father; it’s been said that daughters tend to have this kind of effect on their Dads. You really can’t comprehend until she looks you in eyes and completely has ahold of your heart, the way no other girl could.

Oh, how my Mother would have adored you so. You hold her name, you posses a striking resemblance, and you bring her to my heart and mind on a daily basis.
